My first pair of active 3D glasses were thee same. I later acquired some rechargeable glasses that I haven't needed since I got a passive 3D TV set.

I reviewed it back in the day. That review is here.

I think your comments mirror my remembrance of seeing the film in the theater. Will be nice to have a second watch.

Yep, it's one of the best investments I ever made. I don't have that many region B 2D/3D discs (maybe 20), but it's comfortably satisfying to know if I see a disc from another region, I'll be able to buy it and play it if I want.

I still have a plasma TV which uses active glasses to achieve 3D, but the quality of the 3D on the OLED with passive glasses is unmatched.

Really looking forward to this in real 3D. It's one of the few Silver Age 3D films that eluded me (not my fault: there was a projector snafu the afternoon I went to see it. I was given a voucher to return for free, but I ended up using it for another film since Treasure didn't last long at that...

Yep, G-Force. A brilliant visual effect at home (I didn't see it in the theater).

Yes, it's a shame about Friday the 13th Part 3D. While I find the series not to my taste, the 3D implementation I felt was the strongest of any of the 3D films of the Silver Age that I saw (and I saw an awful lot of them in the theater during that time). But I'd never buy the set just for that...

I agree. The film may be mediocre but the 3D experience is exhilarating.

Pretty much my impressions after watching it tonight. Big, dumb fun. I thought Garfield and especially Emma Stone looked older than just-graduated high school seniors, and Spider-Man's continual longing for love gets old fast for me (in all the incarnations of the story, not just this one). But...

I don't have the first one. I bought the second one because the 3D version was put on sale by Amazon.

I'm probably going to be watching The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in 3D sometime today or tonight. I've never seen the Andrew Garfield version of the character, so it's going to be interesting jumping into the second one without having seen his first effort.

Yeah, pretty much a total bomb, at least from the studio's vantage point. Accounts in the trades at the time said the write off was close to $200 million on John Carter. (Negative costs were close to $200 million, and Disney spent close to that on marketing.) But you're certainly right that its...

And the way the 3D film was photographed can affect your experience, too. Comin' at Ya! has some minor crosstalk in extreme close-ups. It's the only real crosstalk I've experienced on my OLED.

I think the first two films especially gain tremendously in visual quality from their Blu-ray original releases.

I reviewed all three of them, and I certainly concur that they were, at best, mediocre 3D experiences.

All of my 3D favorites come from the Golden Age of the 1950s: House of Wax, Kiss Me Kate, It Came from Outer Space, Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Maze. Of modern films, I like Hugo, Oz the Great and Powerful, Life of Pi.

I reviewed the 2D release, but I was disappointed I didn't get the 3D to review, so I just bought myself a copy. Enjoyed the 3D effects very much.

Normally, I don't notice it either; I've even reviewed a few of these films with changing ratios and not commented on it because I got so immersed in the movie that I didn't notice. For some reason, the IMAX scenes in Aquaman really stood out to me, so I did take notice of them. Also they seemed...

And the IMAX scenes in particular in 4K just jump off the screen. I can imagine what they would have been like in 3D.

    3D Top 30 Must Own 3D Blu-Ray Releases

When I got my first 3D television (a plasma with active 3D), I would use the 2D-to-3D conversion feature quite a lot, especially with movies like House of Wax, Kiss Me Kate, and Creature from the Black Lagoon that I knew had been filmed in 3D but hadn't yet been released on Blu-ray. It wasn't a...

Same thing happened to me. I really don't have a fear of heights at all, but it was WAY too real with not only the virtual reality visuals but the sound effects that put you atop the World Trade Center tower. I was TERRIFIED!

You guys were certainly right about Fantastic Beasts in 3D. Very immersive and some great pop out moments. The movie itself was a little tedious at times and a little obvious, too, with its various romances, but the passive 3D on the OLED certainly showed off the dimensional effects beautifully.

I guess I should give it another chance, this time on my passive OLED set-up. I might react to it differently. Sounds like maybe something to do tomorrow.
