Random thoughts on "Empire of Dreams" which I just finished last night. 1. Irvin Kershner's speech inflection made me smile every time he started talking. Just great. He seems like a real fun guy, too. I wish he had directed Jedi. (and episodes 1 and 2....the Anakin/Padme stuff would have...
1. Neil, your sig made me laugh out loud the first time I saw it. Bravo. 2. Ron, I am also surprised and bothered that the offical HTF view of the swapped audio channels for ANH seems to be "Oh well, at least it looks pretty!" The fact that it *does* look so damn good just makes the...
I'll be damned, the mixed-rear-channels-screw-up has made it to the IMDB news. I wonder how long Lucasfilm is going to keep its head in the sand over this. http://www.imdb.com/news/sb/#4
How would both men have better aim? Wouldn't *one* of them have to have better aim than the other? It appears that Greedo couldn't hit a wamprat sitting inside a T-16 with him.
Rule 13. If you don't think something has been mentioned before, it's guaranteed that someone (most likely more than one person) has already mentioned it before. Sorry bud, this was brought up the first day the rip made it online, if not sooner.
I actually laughed out loud during the Tatooine chapter selection menu for ANH (Uncle Owen and Luke buying the droids) when R5's head blows off towards the next group of choices and then we follow it back down for the next grouping. Well played, Van Ling, well played. Chris, some players...
Actually, it's deeper now than it's ever been. They lowered it (or whateve the correct term would be) for this release.
That's always been the case. There is a large chunk of no music during the death star battle.
Three menus each.
That's about the most horrible thing I've ever read. That scene works perfectly as it is. I can't even imagine the above statement without visibly shuddering.
I had no problem removing the snot from the side of my package. Of course, I didn't rip it off like a madman, but honestly, unless there's different types of glue being used for different areas of the country or something, don't worry about it.
Toss that sucker. It's just there so people can pick it up at the store and see what's inside. That's why it's *removable*. I don't know why anyone would keep that on it.
My setup is really low-end (27" screen, 2.1 sound setup), but still, the "force theme" at the Death Star dive is just completely drowned out by the SFX track. I hear it faintly, but man, this should be at the forefront, not muffled. HUGE thumbs down at that desicsion (and based on what Ben Burtt...
Well, I went to walmart at midnight to pick up my copy (having now learned more about the sound design of star wars in one week than what I've picked up in my entire life thanks to this forum) because I honestly don't want to wait another 2-3 years to watch these movies. My VHS tapes are...
An awful *damn* shame. That was my favorite musical cue of the entire movie. Of all the trumpety musical cues, it was the most....human. (cue bagpipes a la "Wrath of Khan")
Bryan, I printed out that page anyway on a laser printer and am bringing it with me to Wally World for the pricematch. You can tell it's the SW Trilogy pictured there, and it's not hard to read at all. I can only try. And if they don't take it, eh, I'm out 4 bucks.
That's just unneccessary. However, I am really looking forward to seeing what Lucasfilm says about this. It really sounds like a big honkin' mistake, and I hope they decide to fix it (if there is a problem). Maybe they can fix the green lightsaber, too, while they're at it
I just learned that I *could* have the set before Tuesday, but it would cost me 59.99, and over 60 bucks (inc. tax) is just too much to pay if I can get it close to 40 in a few days time. I may be a star wars fan, but I'm a star wars fan with a limited budget.
Back in the day, the only cassette tape I think I owned was the Return of the Jedi soundtrack (the tape itself was this horrid beige, too). I (along with my John Ratzenberger-look alike dad) must have played that thing more often than any other piece of music that we had in the house. I knew...
Completely off topic!!! Nick, I just looked at your dvd collection photo. What are those cases around the Kevin Smith movies? Are they Paul Champagne cases or something? On topic again!!! I might be getting the discs today! Or tomorrow! But soon! I think I'm going to watch them...
Thanks for the review, Michael. Always appreicated. I just wanted to add that I just listened to the commentary for AoTC last night for the first time, and it seemed that every time Ben Burtt spoke, he was talking about how "this sequence would be better with no music". I got real tired of it...
