Oh Max, don't let some yahoo chase you away. You're the heart & soul of the gore thread. Stick around. Pay no attention to the narrowminded and idiotic. :D

Just the disc itself. I did the replacement routine with Frankenstein Created Woman, The Witches, Opera and Heathers LE. Quick turnaround. FCW may be a problem, however, since AB has apparently lost the rights to that; if that's a title you need replaced I'd act quickly before they're all...

Just picked up a broken-street-date set of The Giallo Collection from Anchor Bay (due 6/25). Although 3 of the 4 are being released separately, the one I (and I expect most people) really want is the one that only comes in the box set, this being The Case of the Bloody Iris (1972)...

Julie, is your review of the R2 disc or the shortly-forthcoming one from Media Blasters?

No gore at all, but highly recommended for the scare factor is The Mothman Prophecies, which streeted 6/4. There are rumors but nothing firm about a SE later on, so you might want to rent rather than buy. Cross-posting from the Mothman thread: I truly didn't expect much from this given the...

I have the UK Region 2 King Kong, and it looks pretty good. There's clearly been no restoration, but the picture is decent, and the restored censored sequences (Kong peeling off Fay Wray's dress, sniffing his fingers, eating people etc.) don't have the usual very different appearance that they...

All Ladies Do It and The Beast are reviewed by me on the Digitally Obsessed site (http://www.digitallyobsessed.com). In a nutshell, All Ladies Do It is okay if you have a thing for the female tush. If you don't, then don't bother. It's pretty light on plot and is mainly an excuse to ogle...

That's Night of the Lepus, not Night of the Lepers.....a very, very different menace indeed! :D

Ring 2 is pretty good; I recommend it if you liked Ring 1. It's more of the same, but has some moments that are easily the equal of anything in the first film, and it ties up some loose ends nicely. It's about as good as horror sequels get.

My last attempt blew up so let's try again.... Taking the thread OT into Lovecraft's books, a good rule of thumb is that if a work by or about HPL has the involvement of S.T. Joshi, it's worthwhile. He's THE major Lovecraft authority, and has been an HPL nut since a youngster; he was a...

Shriek Show is a label (part of Media Blasters), not a movie. The sale is for all of the Shriek Show DVDs. The quality of these is dubious, though, and some are P&S only. Check reviews before you buy.

A tip to region-2-capable Jess Franco fans: The Region 2 DVD of Christopher Lee in Franco's The Bloody Judge appears to have gone out of print. None of the UK dealers have it in stock and are indicating 'deleted.' Luminous Film & Video Wurks claims to still have a few in stock-- www.lfvw.com

Yes, the Canadian Ginger Snaps disc is widescreen, anamorphic and loaded with extras to boot. Not to mention that with exchange rates its about the same price as (or cheaper than) the Artisan POS disc, there's no reason to go with the US disc.

When I went to Best Buy Sunday (yesterday) to go speaker shopping, I checked for Bad Taste and they actually had it out, so maybe someone has wised up. Anyway, snagged the LE, which looks great for something shot on 16mm.

I went back to Best Buy to pick up Bad Taste and Stunt Man LEs, and they did have the Stunt Man at the insane price of $19.99, but no Bad Tastes at all. The blueshirt checked the computer and told me it was pushed back to next week...so I guess it's an online order for this as well as the...

No Bad Taste, Julie, but the local BB did have the new set of MGM Midnite Movies out. Not much for gore, I'm afraid, though....I did pick up War Gods of the Deep just to keep my Vincent Price collection complete though. :) Slow week for releases....I actually got out of there with under $30...

Julie (or anyone), is there any release of The Convent rumored in the works for Region 1? If not, I'll have to pick up the R2....I'm assuming it's OAR; are there any extras on the R2 disc? ------------------ "This movie has warped my fragile little mind."

Watched Halloween 5 last night as part of my marathon....having been warned away from 6 (Curse of Michael Myers) I was astonished at how godawful this movie is; it makes 4 look like Gone With the Wind. If 6 is even worse, then I don't think I could possibly bear it and will skip straight to...

For those considering HALLOWEEN shopping (literally), I was surprised to see that Halloween H20 has had a major price drop. No longer a $32.99 (I think---it may have been even higher) list, it has dropped to $19.99, which means that it was on the shelf at $14.99 at Best Buy. Even without the...

Yeah 2000 Maniacs will never win any awards for special effects, but it's a hilarious movie that's one of my faves. Anyone who thinks that mixing humor and horror started with Freddy Krueger needs to see this one pronto. :) ------------------ "This movie has warped my fragile little mind."

Prom Night was a nice little score; it's been out of print for a long time and no one seems to be rushing to re-release it. The transfer's not great (it was a very early effort by Anchor Bay), but the movie's fairly entertaining. The identity of the killer is almost ridiculous, but what can...

For those who are into Jess Franco titles, I just noticed that three Anchor Bay DVDs by him are now listed as OOP: Succubus, Two Undercover Angels and Kiss Me, Monster. You might want to pick these up before they vanish and you're stuck paying $50 for them on ePay. The best online price I find...

I'm most of the way through the Something Weird release of The Veil, an unsold TV series from 1958 starring Boris Karloff. All 10 episodes that were completed before the Hal Roach studios fell into bankruptcy are here, and they're in quite nice shape overall. I'm an old school horror fan and...

I think this The Hitcher is easily one of the most disturbing movies of the 1980s not made by David Lynch. It's just terrific from credits to credits. ------------------ "This movie has warped my fragile little mind."

Makes sense though; I don't like A Christmas Story either. I think that part of why Black Christmas didn't do it for me was that I'd just watched Suspiria the other night. Now that's a seriously unsettling and creepy movie (plus buckets of gore :) ). Black Christmas just couldn't hold a...

After doing my review of Bela Lugosi Meets a Brooklyn Gorilla (yes, it's as bad as--or worse than--you might have feared....but Bela is always fun), I tossed in my new disc of Black Christmas. I had been looking forward to this for a long time, but have to say it was pretty disappointing. This...

Max, Let Sleeping Corpses Lie/Midnight in the Manchester Morgue is indeed Spanish---directed by Jordi Grau, not Fulci. A charming little Spanish nasty, rivalled only by Burial Ground for gutwrenching zombie glory. Now we need the other two Evil Dead films on DVD.... I watched the Suspiria set...
