We got our flu shot yesterday, two days after the Bivalent booster. This was the first time we were asked if we wanted the "high dose" flu vaccine. We opted for the regular one.
My arm was sore for a bit after the flu shot but most of the soreness is gone this morning. I was able to sleep on...
The body aches were gone by noon or so today. Other than a slightly sore upper arm (injection site), I'd never know I got a shot yesterday.
So, this booster was the mildest side effects I've had so far (from a booster).
Mark
Only a very slight feeling of maybe a fever during the night. Not enough to make me get out of bed to take my temp. But mild to moderate body aches started about 2am and continue this morning. I took a couple of Tylenol and plan to just hang around the house today.
My performance at last...
Cathy and I received the Bivalent booster today. It's been 3 hours and the only side effect (so far) is a slightly sore arm.
With the previous two boosters (and the 2nd shot in the initial series), I developed mild flu-like symptoms (which lasted only briefly) about 18-hours after the shots...
There are rumblings the vaccine that better targets the Omicron variant will be available in September. That would be exactly 6 months from our 2nd booster so the timing is looking good.
Mark
The science indicates that the vaccine's protection against serious illness *does* wane over time. Does that protection go to zero (at some point)? I do not know. However, the science says you are less at risk of serious illness if you are current on boosters.
So, the question becomes...
Yes! As I mentioned, he was disappointed about it.
In other news.. This morning, I received shipping notification for my two packages of test kits from the latest round of freebies. The estimated delivery date was Saturday, June 4. Then, 45 minutes later, I received notification that my two...
I received the 5-pack of Siemens tests during the previous round of free test kits. Those are dated November 2022 and they have remained unused (so far). All of the test kits I got before that were iHealth. ALL of them were dated to expire in either May or June 2022. All of those test kits...
Well, if COVID vaccines were going to cause any serious side effects, it seems like this crazy guy would be the one to experience them.

As we know, many municipalities have been regularly testing wastewater in their locales to detect the presence of coronavirus. They've also found a correlation between increased levels of the virus in wastewater and increased spread in the community. I read an article yesterday... wastewater...
China is experiencing surges due to the Omicron variant that have caused the government to shut down cities again, affecting millions of people. As I understand it, China still does not have an mRNA vaccine for COVID. China's two main vaccines work similarly to the J&J vaccine and are proving...
Went to bed around 8:30pm. I could already tell that the vaccine was doing its work. I had body & joint aches, but not much more besides a sore arm. I woke up at midnight feeling feverish and with shaking chills. I drank water right before I took my temp (oops), it was 98.8 ( above normal...
I received the 4th shot about 10:30am. It's now 5:20pm and my arm is a little sore and I think I'm feeling just a little bit of punkiness. Nothing of concern so far.
My wife's arm isn't even sore yet.
Mark
Forgot to mention, I reached out to our doctor regarding the 4th shot, asking whether he thought it was a good idea (at this time). His reply: "I would definitely get 4th shot." He went on to mention that he has already received his 4th shot with no side effects.

Thank you! We have 13 people (that I know of) going from Ring 76. Thanks to the new group feature, and the fact that we got a very early registration date, I was able to share the group schedule with other Ring 76 members and now we have at least 11 of those 13 with the same schedule. PARTY...
My wife and I have appointments tomorrow for our 4th shot (2nd booster). It's been a little over 6 months since our first booster. Time to get jabbed again.
The FDA has good timing. I'm still planning to go to Vegas for a magic convention in May. Glad I'll have some more up-to-date...
I've left self-tests sit for much longer than the needed 15 minutes and then checked them again. After 30 minutes, after an hour, after two hours. There was absolutely NO faint line at the positive slot.
I'd say a faint line at the positive slot after 30 minutes is a positive test result...
The rate of new infections is rising in many areas of the country. Three reasons:
1) Still too many unvaccinated people.
2) Mask wearing has declined dramatically.
3) Vaccine efficacy is waning a bit as the vaccinated reach 5 to 6+ months since their second shot. Thus, boosters are needed...
As others have pointed out, the charges I mentioned are what CVS charged to Medicare for administering the shots.
Obviously, CVS Pharmacy is not my healthcare provider. But I still paid nothing out of my pocket.
Mark
CVS charged Medicare $26 for my first Pfizer shot, $34 for the second Pfizer shot, and $44 for the third Pfizer shot.
I guess the next booster will be $54.

San Diego County announced today that 80% of residents age 12 and older have been fully vaccinated. Another 9.2% have received their first dose. So, in a few weeks, we should be close to 90% (12 and older) fully vaccinated.

I feel pretty much normal today. Maybe some very slight body aches, but that is sort of normal these days. My arm is slightly sore, but not bad at all.
Gonna go shopping at Costco this AM. Tuesdays and Thursdays still have senior hour from 9:00 - 10:00 am.
Mark
You are a master of understatement. :)
Perhaps you interpreted my post as complaining? Not my intent, at all. Since I am among some of the earliest to get a booster, I thought my experience might prove helpful to others. I know when vaccines were just getting started, I appreciated the...
Thank you, Tony.
I went ahead and took more Tylenol around 8:00am. That knocked down the body aches quite a bit but now I’m running a mild fever of 99.5.
The 3rd shot is most definitely causing a more significant reaction inside this old body. I know that means it is “working” but I sure...
Deja vu… I woke up at 3:15am with mild chills and significant body aches. My temp was 98.5 but my normal temp is about 97.7. I did feel slightly feverish.
The body aches are definitely worse than with my 2nd dose. I took a couple of Tylenol and that has helped a fair bit. At 4:30am the...
It's been 8 hours since my booster shot and my arm is just starting to feel sore. Other than that and the metallic taste (which is gone now), no symptoms.
With my 2nd shot back in February, the symptoms didn't arrive until 18 hours after I got the shot. Mild fever, chills and body...
I received my Pfizer booster dose this morning (two hours ago). So far, not even a sore arm.
We'll see how the rest of the day goes. I have a full day of coach potato planned.
Edit: Well, I just realized I was sensing a metallic taste in my mouth. I turned to Google and found this...
My wife received her Pfizer booster shot yesterday. Absolutely no side effects, not even a mild amount of tiredness.
I'm getting my booster shot on Tuesday. I received a Prevnar 13 pneumonia shot on the 14th and you are supposed to wait at least 14 days before getting the COVID vaccine. I...
