Netflix Netflix (once again) Raises All Subscription Plans in U.S.

Honestly don't remember anymore quite what originally got me to subscribe (at least consistently) years ago. Even w/ their old/original disc rental bizz, I basically only binge subscribed for certain periods, not year-round in general.... and wasn't doing the disc rentals at all by the time we...

Netflix Netflix (once again) Raises All Subscription Plans in U.S.

Maybe someone will develop a 3rd party app to handle that better than the few existing aggregater platforms and charge a nominal fee to efficiently, automatically manage our subscriptions (eg. cancel, pause and/or reactivate and maybe more) based on our actual, individual needs so we don't have...

Netflix Netflix (once again) Raises All Subscription Plans in U.S.

I actually (very) sporadically use NF for Seinfeld... and not a whole lot else myself... but as I've mentioned before, my NF subscription is really for my family (and Mom) far more than me, heh... :P Maybe I'll try switching to the much cheaper ad-supported tier next time they hike the price...

Netflix Netflix (once again) Raises All Subscription Plans in U.S.

They might not get rid of month-to-month for ad-free/premium tiers too soon, if at all, but perhaps, just do that for ad-supported tier instead. Seems like the vast majority of people who would do ad-supported may also be much more likely to go for (modestly?) discounted annual plans or simply...

Netflix Netflix (once again) Raises All Subscription Plans in U.S.

Basically, they're trying to (encourage and) make it as easy and painless as possible for existing subscribers to create new accounts/subscriptions (and of course, pay additionally/separately for those new, separate accounts/subscriptions), which is of course good for their bottomline (and...

Netflix Netflix (once again) Raises All Subscription Plans in U.S.

On the plus side, they're at least trying different things (and this probably does help a few customers I suppose) and not going w/ a brute force approach or jumping straight to the next clearly negative-for-the-customer option, LOL... :P On the downside, wonder how much this new feature cost...

Netflix Netflix (once again) Raises All Subscription Plans in U.S.

In great effort to make nice w/ all their customers possibly while mulling over yet another potential round of price increases (and/or whatever other mega-losses-reducing, corner-cutting changes) for the new year should nobody like this idea (and actually "transfer"), NetFlix just released this...

Netflix Netflix (once again) Raises All Subscription Plans in U.S.

It no doubt makes a diff to some like you, but highly doubtful it's the #1 reason for 99.9% of their customers to subscribe given what they charge for it. Would you pay their ~$15/month (or ~$140/year) asking price just/predominantly for their Prime video streaming? The only time I ever...

Netflix Netflix (once again) Raises All Subscription Plans in U.S.

That's true, but NF's content may not be worth nearly enough for Amazon to want to do that (enough). Maybe if NF's stock price drops well below 10% of what it is now I suppose so that their market cap drops well below $10B. That would come close to what Amazon paid for MGM... though NF doesn't...

I get the sense your "educated guess[ing]" could use more real info, including actually having a bit more experience w/ the various streamers (and what they're about and where they're coming from). You already showed you likely have zero experience based on some of the conjectures/rhetoric you...

Don't see why that wouldn't happen since they already do so via AppleTV+... though there's no savings involved in such bundling AFAIK... _Man_

Netflix Netflix (once again) Raises All Subscription Plans in U.S.

I can see adding something like an 1-minute ad at the beginning of each episode or movie (maybe a bit shorter for shorter episodes and longer for feature-length movies), but nothing more than that unless they're doing so via lower priced, ad-supported options (like the other streamers do)...

Netflix Netflix (once again) Raises All Subscription Plans in U.S.

Well, that probably just means they were waaay overvalued before. Their stock price is still over $200/share w/ market cap of ~$95B (and a now seemingly reasonably healthy ~19.5:1 PE ratio) after that recent huge drop (and quite some more before that) afterall... Gosh, I hadn't paid any...

But most old broadcast TV series (other than soap operas and the rare case like Lost, which isn't quite that old) typically did not use serial storytelling. They were mostly episodic w/ storytelling that's self-contained w/in each episode (and very sporadically stretching to 2 episodes...

Netflix Netflix (once again) Raises All Subscription Plans in U.S.

I'd prefer at least 2 episodes per week myself. Not interested in waiting every week just for 1 episode (especially in serial format) anymore. I'd much rather just wait until they have enough dropped for me to watch the entire season in a week or at most 2 and just watch the vast amount of...

Netflix Netflix (once again) Raises All Subscription Plans in U.S.

Not sure I'd say "look bad", but yeah, it'll probably negatively affect people's feelings toward them (and in turn their bottomline) nonetheless. IF they're really doing this, they should probably at least also offer a cheaper 4K option for fewer streams me thinks instead of requiring the...

Netflix Netflix (once again) Raises All Subscription Plans in U.S.

I think for regular folks who don't already check/follow info on shows/content, they could probably just choose some arbitrary times of the year to reactivate for a month or two to catch up and binge on whatever. They just wouldn't be able to reactivate as soon as what they like gets released...

Netflix Netflix (once again) Raises All Subscription Plans in U.S.

Whether this is feasible will probably vary depending on the individuals. Generally, I wouldn't expect non-enthusiasts to be able to bother w/ that all that much, but since we're all basically enthusiasts here (if we're bothering to read/comment), then many of us could probably do that just...

Netflix Netflix (once again) Raises All Subscription Plans in U.S.

Yeah, this will finally push me over the edge to finally treat NF same way I treat most other streaming services (as Josh recommended). I actually rarely watch much of anything on there myself anyway and mainly kept it for the family (and my Mom). And my family might finally be less interested...
