Hard to know...
Personally/anecdotally, I've never had a flu vaccine and have not gotten any significant case of the flu in the last 30 years. I may have gotten a mild case on occasion (often accompanied by a cough that wasn't severe, but could be hard to kick and lasted much longer than any...
I don't really know... but I wonder if very diligently (maybe even obsessively) wearing masks (and exercising certain other similar routines) all the time might actually worsen/weaken one's immune system and general ability to tolerate illness (at this point... vs back during the height of the...
That sounds similar enough to my case a year ago (and many others I hear/read about)... including how it typically lasts somewhere around 10 days. Sounds like you're approaching 10 days soon...

Planning last minute to get my covid booster tomorrow... somewhat sooner than originally intended (in early-to-mid-Nov to help ensure protection coverage thru Chinese New Year in mid-Feb)... because I'm looking to make a quick, short trip (via bus) upto my alma mater (in the Finger Lakes region)...
Mine wanted me to get that sooner than later and not wait til I get the Covid one in Nov -- it would be my 1st ever, if I (finally) get it (the flu shot, that is).
Mine woulda said likewise, except she doesn't think I could get a 2nd booster in Jan -- yeah, I asked -- so pivoted to suggesting...
As I mentioned earlier, I'm leaning toward waiting til (mid?)Nov as well... as suggested by my doctor to cover my entire holiday (and prime bulk of concert-going) season stretch... as that's when I'll likely get the most exposure to Covid *and* also do not wanna be stuck at home for the...
Just had my (now regular) semi-annual doctor's visit and was suggested maybe I could just wait til Nov to get my new covid booster instead so I'd be covered for the major holiday season, especially including Chinese New Year's (when I caught covid earlier this year) that's coming around mid-Feb...
Well, if you've never used your test kits and those were from the original 1st batch of free ones, it probably did expire by now. IIRC, they really only extended the expiration dates by 1/2-to-1 year. If yours are from the 1st batch, their expiration dates would likely have been well over a...
^Great! I was just wondering about that myself given the new school year (along w/ other interconnected aspects of life/society) just began here in NYC.
Just wish they'd offer a follow-up booster for 4-5 months later though... as I caught Covid for my 1st (known) time early this year in...
Yeah, that's another reason I'm still not keen on the idea of going on cruises (and really never have liked the idea even before Covid)... but my mother keeps wanting me to take her around/across the Mediterranean... and my siblings also chime in to get me to do it, but they won't themselves...
Where's that thread over here? I haven't seen... but maybe that might be the only way I'd consider skydiving at all (well, at least maybe as a curious spectator sport anyway), LOL... ;):laugh::laugh::rolling-smiley:

Well, by now, we all know we all are gonna do whatever we each believe and/or feel most comfy, so not need to exclaim (w/ or w/out the appropriate punctuation! ;))... as nobody here is imposing masking or whatever on yah, LOL. ;):P
FWIW, I haven't generally masked anymore for a long time...
Mmmm... topmost priority is smelling dem coffee beans of course... and everything else should probably be a distant 2nd at best -- you don't need (at least the smell of) mouthwash until you're fully recovered (and not contagious) anyway, LOL. ;):D

FWIW, if you have an Apple Watch or one of the better Fitbits, it probably comes w/ pulse oximeter function -- my Fitbit Versa 3 does. Not too sure quite how effective/accurate that is, but I'm guessing likely plenty good enough for the purpose (unless you notice it not working well enough for...
When I finally got it, it was ~4 months after my bivalent booster...
No idea whom I actually caught it from, but most likely sometime during the Chinese New Year's Eve family dinner at a super busy (though very large and spacious) restaurant -- interestingly, nobody else in the family caught it...
Your experience so far seems to largely mirror mine from back in early Feb this year (though I suppose I'm probably considered part of the somewhat potentially "at risk" demo). Honestly, I felt a bit worst from the other non-Covid, flu-like (probably rhino-)virus I probably caught from my...
That's probably far less likely the case than catching it from an encounter, however brief, w/ someone (or multiple someones) who's asymptomatic.
In any case, as long as it doesn't get much worse and he fully recovers in reasonable amount of time, that's probably all that matters. Most people...
Not sure I understand why they can't just offer a booster to anyone who wants it 6 months after the new shot (circa Sept) each year going forward.
Sure, they won't get a lot of people opting to get the booster, but it's probably just the same shot they'll likely need to keep available in (much)...
All the key classical music concert and Broadway venues/orgs in NYC apparently stopped requiring masking over the last 6 months -- most as early as last Oct -- although the People's Symphony Concerts (for very inexpensive, classical chamber music performed by most of the same world class...
I would think they should probably do something like that even for the flu too in senior assisted living facilities... even though death rate has definitely been substantially lower for flu... but seniors are generally much more vulnerable to both the flu and Covid-19.
I've never bothered w/...
According to their chart, looks like it was settling down more around 300/day or so until the recent holiday spike this month. Presumably, it'll settle back down to circa 300/day or less as the situation develops.
Also, for comparison, the holiday spike that occurred around same time last year...
And honestly, really wish we've already officially reached the point where I felt fine enough to just attend that very rare concert w/out worrying so much about giving my very mild, remaining Covid viral load to anyone, if I just masked up and exercised whatever other reasonable precaution...
NP, Mark.
I understand the concern and likely frustration.
For me, it probably comes down to what I perceive as the ongoing, developing reality of our current Covid-infested world. I was much more cautious in the past, and yes, would indeed test myself w/ more urgency, but lapsed this last...
And it was apparently an amazing, glorious marathon concert w/ plenty of dazzling showmanship from Yuja to boot!
She apparently musta changed clothes/gowns for every single concerto (plus the Rhapsody)!
So very bummed I had to miss it...
And thanks, I barely have any symptoms remaining at...
On the plus side, of course, I've already been feeling better and barely have any symptoms remaining at all -- my last time w/ (again, mildly) flu-like sickness back following the TDay weekend was actually rougher, lasting much longer, but still wasn't really that bad.
At least I didn't really...
Well, guess it was bound to happen sooner or later, but yeah, I just recently caught Covid probably at a Chinese New Year's Eve family dinner at this super busy restaurant a week ago... and at a most inopportune time as I'm forced to miss a much anticipated concert today at Carnege Hall as a...
My nearly-70-yo mother is nearly fully recovered since catching Covid little over 2 weeks ago - she still has a bit of the cough, which seems normal enough even for the usual flu/cold variety, but no other issues it seems. She's been testing negative every other day or so since midweek last...
I'm basically between Josh and Dave... though no kids to worry about anymore (in terms of Covid anyway) going forward. I do generally still wear a mask whenever going indoors in most cases though it's just the surgical variety, not (K)N95, and I haven't gotten around to getting my 2nd booster...
