The new Nikon Z 70-200 f/2.8 VR S looks enticing... but... I can’t see myself spending that much on it for a small mirrorless body and then not also be able to use it on any Nikon DSLRs like my D800. I think if I spend that much at this point, I’d wanna be able to use it on my D800 too. OTOH...

John, Although CF-express is backward compatibility w/ XQD, seems like the XQD format itself is becoming obsolete since it just won't compete w/ CF-express due to its performance limitation. I suppose they could start pricing XQD cards much cheaper so as not to directly compete w/ much faster...

Just thought I might (finally) share a recent video of my youngest's solo recital shot w/ my Z6 + old Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 using Sennheiser MKE-440 stereo shotgun mic (from back of the music school's modest sized recital hall) -- she's nearly 13-yo now and has been taking lessons for ~8 years...

Honestly, I doubt the final production cameras will be all that much better than these so-called pre-production ones, especially given how Nikon operates. One can hope though... but I'm guessing not likely... although that youtube preview compared them to Sony's 2nd gen models from a couple...

Haven't been following mirrorless dev, but now, I wonder if the new Nikon ones will work well (if at all) w/ DX lenses like the 17-55 f/2.8 or the 18-70 (that was the D70's kit lens). IF they work, wonder what the effective (35mm equiv) focal lengths will be... I'd definitely consider adding...
