I didn't think it was really clear, though I sort of connected the dots. As you say, given the luxurious running time of this film, Craig and Grant didn't even share a scene together.
And I did find it odd that Grant's character would refer to his husband as "Blanc," rather than Benoit.
We had an OK time with this tonight, though I don't think it was a clever as the first film. There wasn't much to the mystery as the
I did like the part where Blanc revealed the party murder "mystery" before it even happened, despite Bron's claims that it would be "next level" difficult to solve.
I don't recall the article exactly, but it sounded like it might not be a simultaneous release. That it might debut on Netflix, then a couple weeks later may be availble to theaters. But as you say, most of the chains are probably not likely to bring it back while they have theatrical exclusives...
Not great for creating any goodwill relations between Netflix and theaters.
I'd read that Netflix will allow more theaters to show it again after it makes its Netflix debut later in December, but I don't know if that's really true, nor how many theaters would want to show it at that point.
It's kind of in the subtitle, I guess, "A Knives Out Mystery". So it's based off a prior work, even if that basis is just a single character that's carried over.
Hadn't heard this before, but Deadline is reporting that Netflix will allow theaters to book the film again after it makes its debut on Netflix streaming. So there could be additional opportunities to see this on the big screen in the new year, and possibly at some smaller, non-chain locations...
Estimates have this coming in third place for the weekend ($12.8 million/5 days) behind Wakanda Forever and Strange World, despite being on only 638 screens (the top 2 films are on 4000+).
By comparison, Steven Spielberg's The Fabelmans is on the same number of screens as Glass Onion, but is...
They're listed as a production company on the second film, so I'd think we should see a disc release after a year or so on Netflix.
Love how there are recent articles related to the theatrical release of this film with the Netflix CEO saying theatrical release is not going to be a regular...
None of those chains have any locations in Vermont or within reasonable driving distance (would either be Albany, NY, or southern NH). So it's a no-go here unless one of the independents is able to strike a side deal since we don't have any participating theaters in the state.
Even if Netflix doesn't issue grosses, there are likely to be estimates from the other studios that may be reported somewhere. They usually track their competitors' films, as well as their own.
Is Ryan Reynolds a Netflix exclusive now? He seems to have a lot of films that debut there.
6 Underground, Red Notice, now The Adam Project. I know a couple of these started as studio projects, but still.
Jamie Foxx has two films in there, too: They Cloned Tyrone and Day Shift.
Yet. Eventually the talent may look for something like that if Netflix wants to keep them happy.
I'm a little confused about the Knives Out deal. Is that $400 million just to buy the rights, or is that supposed to cover the production of the films, too. In the article, they say there are "no...
