Not sure what to believe from Amazon, as they seem to be selling the box set for $12 higher ($81.99) than MSRP ($69.98). Then again, a lot of people seem to blindly buy everything from Amazon.
I believe the smaller labels licensing titles also produce their own discs, so those are always going to be using (hopefully) the latest available master which can also be improved over earlier discs by the label's encoding process. I don't think the studios are providing existing backstock of...
Not always with Paramount, at least. The new 4K combo release of Sweeney Todd (in the Paramount Scares box) reportedly includes the same blu-ray from 2008.
Unfortunately, that's standard procedure with most 4K/blu combo releases. Including a remastered blu-ray is generally a rare exception. Complaints about this are possibly why some studios are now just releasing a single disc 4K, rather than a combo pack.
You'd think so, but if it became necessary to have a multiple back-and-forth to get all the info, they may just disregard those that don't send all the info up front.
A peeve of mine at work is when people leave a message that just says "call me back" rather than simply stating what they're...
Sorry to hear some have not received their replacements. I think my wait was closer to 8-9 weeks for delivery, but it only required one email.
Those not getting any response, are you sending your proof of purchase and delivery address along with the email request?
OK, I sent my info requesting the replacement. I'm not sure if anyone will be home if my delivery guy is more strict and requires a signature, but we'll see what happens.
Thanks. I don't think we have any actual FedEx stores in my area, but it appears from their web site there are a number of area stores (Walgreens, Dollar General) that offer ground hold pickup services. They must be affiliated with FedEx.
The signature requirement is keeping me from trying to order the replacement. I'm not usually home during the day, so I don't know how I'd be able to receive them.
Yep, this not an issue that most casual viewers will even notice, or care much about if they do. This replacement is to appease the die-hard fans and cinephiles. Universal is not going to put any effort into purging the old sets and releasing corrected ones.
I kind of fall into the latter...
Probably an added barrier/inconvenience so people will think twice about asking for replacements. Lower costs for them if some people just say the original disc is "good enough" if they have to go through the hassle of a signature delivery to get the replacement.
Well, Fed Ex's web site does day Ground delivers Monday-Friday. My prior comment was based on something I just read in the shipping policy at WeatherTech where I placed an order.
FedEx web site:
Service daysMonday–Friday. Delivery is by the end of the business day.
WeatherTech web site...
Most likely nothing that most casual viewers would ever notice or really care about, but the original mono was promised by Universal and many fans were hoping to get it on this release. That has not happened (so far).
I'm not an expert on this film, but it's my understanding that the 5.1 mix...
I don't think it was the money in the car scene, but her odd behavior that would have made me refuse to deal with her. $6k isn't a huge amount of cash to have on hand even today. But the fact that she was in such a hurry, and was basically willing to buy the car nearly sight-unseen with no test...
Haven't some reported that the "replacement" discs with the same error have different file dates? That would seem to indicate they replicated the error on new discs, and didn't really correct anything.
Interestingly there's no mention of the shoddy packaging/shipping, either.
This.
It would be so freaking simple for them to have a fan of these movies take a look and provide some input to head off things like this. Most often they'd likely do it for free, too, or maybe for a free copy of the disc/set.
They use test audiences and focus groups for everything else. Why...
There has not been any recall that I know of, as the issue is likely not a problem with casual buyers, only cinephiles. I doubt they're going to go the extra mile of pulling back all the inventory that's already out there.
Most likely the only way to ensure you're getting the good disc is to...
I'm always amazed that the studios would seem to rather repress discs and have these replacment programs instead of simply taking a couple extra quality assurance steps and checks to just get it right in the first place.
As noted here, it seems like it would cost a lot of money to redo the...
