Possible, but Lucy and Desi Jr.s seem to amenable to every type of release going back to the old Columbia House VHS tapes. The’ve provided out takes, intro’s home movies, and commentaries. So , I wouldn’t think they were the problem. But who knows? I Love Lucy used to be one of CBS’s flagship...
Anyone know why the ultra iconic I Love Lucy show hasn’t shown up as a complete Blu-ray set? Is it because the over priced first two season didn’t sell as expected?
I would think this show would be a no brainer for Paramount!
Truthfully, me neither. But sometimes when you really want to see an old obscure show it’s the only way. It would be nice if the companies that owned these shows released them legitimately on MOD sets.
So, as much as I’d like to seee And The Chimp again there’s no way.
Didn’t know that! But it’s funny that no “gray area” DVD sets taped from TVLand have shown up !
Another fun throwback show from that era, The Tim Conway Show -the sitcom-CBS also I believe.
Not all CBS , but here are some shows I’d love to see on Blu-ray:
I LOVE LUCY-why isn’t this on BD?? The over priced debacle is ancient history now!
The MUNSTERS- another mystery!
The FUGITIVE, with correct music.
CAR 54 WHERE ARE YOU
HAVE GUN WILL TRAVEL
GUNSMOKE -at least the first 5 seasons...
Yes, and it was very popular back during it’s run inspiring comic books , board games, a cap gun, trading cards , a Hartland figure etc. And Culp was very good in role of Hoby Gilman.
Since Culp became a very popular actor later on it’s surprising the show has never been on DVD.
I’d take the remaining seasons of those shows on DVD, and I’d add Bonanza, Love Boat, and Ben Casey -all stalled shows from CBS. I’d also like to see I Love Lucy on Blu-ray.
I agree with everything you said. It’d be nice to get any if these shows in HD even without the bells and whistles. Still it would be nice if the studios went to extra lengths to give us the best possible package for our re-purchase of these shows we love!
Then again, there are shows like...
It’s been a while since CBS “shut down “ it’s TV division . So does anyone know if they have any plans at all to deal with their Television library other than issuing select shows on Blu-ray?
But as Ron1973 mentions there shouldn’t be any music clearance issues for Jed Clampett and company.
Puzzling why they haven’t completed this iconic series!
I agree about the Beverley Hillbillies- does anyone know the reason Paramount has stonewalled on this series? Poor sales?
I also agree that the other series like Our Miss Brooks and Ben Casey should be completed , at least on MOD.
They need to complete Bonanza too.
Yes, it looked like Bonanza would end with season 9, but CBS surprised us and we’re up to 11. With only three seasons to go , I hope CBS /Paramount will give us the final three!
And I’m with you on the other shows.
And din’t forget Our Miss Brooks.
While I’d love to see any of these great shows released on Blu-ray , I still wonder how feasible it might be. At this point in time, I’d be happy to see CBS just resume it’s MOD program!
