Anyone want to venture a guess as to what vintage Disney live action films will get a Blu-ray release next? I’m thinking Shaggy Dog or the Zorro TV show.
To all those who posted requests like Elfego Baca, Swamp Fox etc, I agree 100%. I’d add the Davy Crockett EPISODES on Blu-ray, the rest of the live action films and the Kilroy series with Warren Berlinger that aired on WWOC.
DMC - you have your work cut out for you!
I got my copies of Darby and Gnomobile this week I watched Darby today for St Patrick’s day and I thought it looked and sounded great. And it came with extras.
Hopefully, DMC is looking at it’s heritage and more films on Blu-ray will follow.
Hoping for Shaggy Dog &Shaggy DA, Great Locomotive...
Great Locomotive Chase would look great in CinemaScope on Blu-ray.
The chase scenes are spectacular.
All of the Disney films that have been mentioned boast excellent photography and cinematography, and would make great Blu-ray Discs.
It’s been suggested that current economic conditions have...
They have a club . They have a staff. They have a catalog that’s has been greatly transferred to high def.
They send me a brochure each month and emails designed to allow me to order Blu-ray’s . But if they’re so consumed with fighting the pandemic maybe they should shut down.
Quite possible , but what’s my motivation to stay in the club if there are no exclusives?
Check out all of the above posts of people who’ve cancelled memberships.
I’ll give them a couple more mailings and if nothing, I’m out too.
I'd just like to mention that the most recent Disney Movie Club mailing was another disappointment . Lots of recent stuff, Twenthieth Century Fox stuff , Marvel , and Star Wars but no new pre-1970 Walt- era Blurays . Maybe we've seen the last of them .
All six of those Films would be nice . There are probably about 25 live action films that would have already been released if the "exclusives " program wasn't so slow through these past 5 or 6 years.
Then again, there are also the TV shows like Zorro .
If Disney doesn't value these films...
I'm wondering : can we expect further Walt Era classics on Blu-ray this year ? Darby O'Gill, Great Locomotive Chase , Shaggy Dog, Johnny Tremain would be nice for starters .
I'll be ordering both of these . I hope I can have Thanksgiving Promise in time to watch on that holiday. Not too many Thanksgiving themed films around .
MatthewA, I couldn't help but notice your Enough is enough /Song Of the South statement . Isn't it bizarre the Disney continues to profit from Song of the South while keeping it locked up in their vault? Recently there was a "raft" of figurines , pins , Funkos etc . Yet the film is still...
Your 100% correct. To be honest , I'd be happy to get the rest of the MMC serials , the rest of the World Of Disney westerns ( Andy Burnette, Texas John Slaughter) and more episodes of the anthology show ( Like Kilroy Was Here )on DVD . I mentioned Mickey Mouse Club as a candidate for BD...
If the older fifties , sixties , and seventies era films just come out once in a while , I'll be happy . Just as long as Disney Inc . doesn't abandon them.
I got these two films this week and I'm happy to have them on Blu-ray . Anyone know if we'll get any other "Walt -era films" soon ? I'm looking for Johnny Tremaine , Darby O'Gill, Great Locomotive Chase , Shaggy Dog , Greyfriars Bobbye , and Westward Ho The wagons right now .
I'm very exited to get both films which I've been hoping for, for quite some time . Let's hope , this will be the beginning of a new string of vintage "Walt Era " classics on Blu-ray.
I didn't notice the two Goofy releases in this catalog - were they in last months ?. I don't have a problem with DMC releasing exclusives of films /Tv shows made in the 80s , 90's and beyond . I just wish we would get an occasional "Walt Era " film . I'd love to have Darby O Gill , Shaggy Dog ...
I got the Disney Movie Club mailer today . Looking through it , it almost looks like the Marvel Movie Club. No new exclusives at all. And I'm not interested in the Goofy films mentioned above . Maybe next month we'll get something ….
Having read the previous posts , I have a few comments :
1) I'm just wondering - how many units do classic Walt era films have to sell to be considered successful? It seems to me that a seasonal film like Babes In Toyland would only sell for about a month or two out of the year , and the...
