I’m not sure what connection Bristol Court and aKaren have With Hullabaloos, but I remember both , watched them in High School, and would love to see them again.
It’s good to know that elements still exist!
So , to get back to Ozzie And Harriet, I wonder if there’s any chance of Ozzie’s later show turning up on DVD . I don’t know if Sam Nelson has these tapes as well. I’d guess that any of us who would stick with all 14 seasons of O&H , would want to add that show to their collection.
So I just checked my 2 Hullabaloo sets. There’s a total of 9 hours between the two multi-DVD sets. So yes your right , a lot is missing and quite possibly lost . The four recent single volumes add some material not in the original sets. Still you never know, Hullabaloo tapes might exist in a...
I bought the original Hullabaloo releases that came out about 15 years ago. I recall that only a few shows were missing . Some of that material showed up on the more recent Best Of Hullabaloo releases a few years ago - 4 volumes.
Everything I have ever seen from MPI has been of very good to great quality . So, I fully expect Ozzie And Harriet to be likewise. MPI is a conscientious company and I can’t imagine them releasing subpar product especially for an iconic program that is being preserved for future generations. My...
Excellent question! It’s the reason why I often stubbornly don’t accept rumors that shows are lost or destroyed. Years ago , I heard that Topper and Dobie Gillis were lost , but it turns out that wasn’t true.
Your right MPI has been a bright spot in releasing vintage TV. I’m happy with the excellent TL set, and I’ll be ordering seasons 1&2. And I’ll be looking forward to future releases of this iconic program!
Okay, so things may not be as rosey as we presumed. So just when we were proclaiming Sam Nelson a “hero” we find we’re almost back to square one, and maybe not much has been done to restore this huge catalog. All if this coming from what I’ve read in other posts here on this thread. Meanwhile...
A couple of years ago, it seemed like a daunting task. Now we have a “best of” and two seasons. If Sam finished all 400+ episodes , it will be a major accomplishment!
So, just checking in and hoping to rekindle some interest in this topic . I have no answers , just questions
Any news at all? Is this project a totally dead end at this point ?
Anyone know if any work at all is going into this?
Status of the "Kickstarter " campaign at this point ?
I like...
With the Holidays just around the corner I bought the Alpha Ozzie And Harriet 8 episode Christmas DVD. I'm really in the mood to enjoy these programs and I can't figure out exactly where Sam stands , so I bought this one . I know the quality isn't there , but I can still watch them THIS year ...
Sadly , I agree that it's unlikely we'll ever see any season releases of O&H. I wonder how far Sam actually got, and and I wonder if he's run out of steam . Equally sad, is the fact that while we may get a few more westerns , action and detective shows from the era 1950 to 1962 , we've probably...
I agree 100% that nineteen fifties sitcoms have been very under represented on DVD. Think about popular shows that had long runs like Love That Bob, December Bride, Life Of Riley, Burns And Allen , The Jack Benny Show , Beulah, Our Miss Brooks , Bachelor Father , The People's Choice ...
I agree that the songs should be there if by some miracle we ever get season releases for this show, Rick's songs from the show are available on an excellent DVD.
Since this thread is active again , I was wondering what progress Sam has made during the the past months . Anyone know ? It would be encouraging if we had an idea as to how quickly he is restoring the episodes . For instance , has he gotten to season 5 yet ? That would be some progress. As it...
The final Steve Canyon DVD proved worth the wait. I'm sure the O&H set will also be excellent if Sam pulls it off. There hasn't been much news lately , so I'd guess any release is a long way off. Maybe Sam could let us know how things are progressing , and if we'll see a release of the already...
Right ! I'm not going to wait for Sam's release. When I want to see O&H I'll play one of the Mill Creek , or Shout Factory discs. If some day Sam's releases show up - great. But for the time being , when I want to see the show, I own well over 100 episode on DVD that I can enjoy ..
I watched 2 episodes from the Mill Creek 100 episode box yesterday. The one with the birds nest clogging the Nelson's rain gutter, and the Hamlet episode with John Carradine , Frank Cady , and Henry (Otto Schmidlap) Kulke. Very funny . Like you said Ron , "good clean nostalgic fun".
I have the Millcreek and Shout Factory releases. Those are good enough until Sam's release(s) hit the market. I'll buy whatever he releases automatically .
Incidentally ,there is a nice official DVD release of many of Ricky's musical performances from the show.
I'm not an expert on this stuff by any means , but I got the impression from the SF releases that David Nelson was aware of them, and was happy with them. Dave is dead now , so no one can ask him. From what I understand , the episodes are still PD, so I think Dave supplied SF with the shortened...
