I was surprised to see Ladybug Ladybug on there, thinking that it just came out a little while ago. But it's now been over two and a half years since Kino Lorber put that one out.
Time sure flies.
I first watched For Whom the Bell Tolls about 7 years ago on TCM. While I surprisingly wasn't thrilled by it despite loving 1940's Hollywood (and Gary Cooper and Ingrid Bergman), I'm looking forward to giving it a second chance.
I recall it looking pretty poor on TCM, so it will be nice to see...
I've never seen it, but it's a great pairing and an era of Hollywood that I love, so I'll happily be purchasing this one blind.
Hopefully it works out better than Portrait of Jennie did, which I couldn't get into (Although I'd like to give it another try one of these days and see if I like it...
While screenshots can't tell the entire story, the ones I just looked at for 'They Shoot Horses Don't They?' sure looked good to my eyes.
I want to say it looked like it perhaps was from an older scan of the material and would benefit a bit if redone today with newer technology, but it doesn't...
I'm not aware of what they own these days, but I hope it includes some films from Hollywood's Golden Age. :)
Either way, it's nice to hear of dozens of additional titles being licensed, even if they all happened to fall outside my main era of interest (I'm aware of the Ted Turner deal in the...
I feel bad I haven't ordered volume 1 yet, but certainly plan to do so.
Alas though, I'm sure at this point that they can ascertain with reasonably accuracy what the longer-term sales numbers are likely to be for a title after the initial release window. So probably not much hope that enough...
I hope this isn't inappropriate, but is Welcome Stranger (A 1947 Paramount release) a Universal movie now? Edit: Got out my DVD, which indeed was a Universal published release.
I think I saw it said that no Bing Crosby films were part of this latest deal, but that would make for a heck of a...
Wish I could take advantage. Would love to grab 'Murder, He Says' and several others. :)
But with the moratorium sale, Twilight Time shutting down, and grabbing the out of print To Catch a Thief release a few days back, I've already bought a lot of Blu-Ray's this month.
Hopefully next sale.
That Carole Lombard collection sounds interesting. Do we know if it's going to be all new-to-Bluray movies?
If not, I'm kind of glad I've yet to buy their 2018 release of Nothing Sacred from Kino, since it might work out in my favor.
Am I correct to assume that this "While Supplies Last" sale is another moratorium sale and that when they're gone, they won't be restocked after the sale?
I see many titles I picked up in that earlier sale, but only a handful of new additions that I want in this one . Don't think I'd qualify...
While I'd prefer the impossible happening (i.e., 'And Then There Were None' getting a proper restoration), I wouldn't mind seeing the mid 1960's remake with Fabian getting a release.
Not sure if that's on Kino's radar or if it's even a film owned by one of the companies they have active deals...
I'd also love to see the Deanna Durbin movie that has her singing Silent Night. It's from 1945 and is called Lady on a Train. I have that scene ripped and on my PC just because it's so good.
So many good William Powell titles that it would be hard for me to pick one I was really hoping to see as part of this deal. Other than The Great Ziegfeld that I wasn't crazy about (And which isn't Universal, so isn't part of the deal), I love them all.
Too bad that I Love You Again and Love...
Easy Living's arrival to Blu-Ray didn't get much attention, but I viewed my disc a few months back and thought it looked pretty sharp for a picture from 1937 that wasn't afforded with a huge budget in the 2000's to create a cleaned up high-definition transfer of. So I bet you two will enjoy your...
I hope it sticks around until I place another order. I'm not familiar with it, but with all the good things I'm seeing here lately about it, I'll have to check it out.
I've been unable to locate what I thought I read, so please take it with a grain of salt since it's quite possible I'm not remembering it correctly.
There are some posts at the other forum though from Kino Lorber Insider that confirm at least a portion of these are going out of production for...
