Quick follow-up on this. I got an replacement copy from Amazon that plays through the 50:21 mark without issue. So this does seem to be a disc defect issue, not an endemic compatibility problem between this disc and player.
That said, I only tested that specific portion of the movie. I haven't...
To this point, when watching the other night, I noticed at least one close-up of Chris Penn visibly sweating, not motivated by the plot of the scene. I believe it was one of the flashbacks in Joe's office.
Yup. I remember that one of the covers was supposedly rarer than the others (was it the Brown one?). I made a point of hunting that down, thinking it would be worth something some day.
No such luck. I'm pretty sure I eventually traded it in at the now-defunct MovieStop chain for $1 in store credit.
Already tried that. No improvement, sadly.
The disc freezes up every time at exactly 50:21. What's weird is that if I start fast-forwarding around 50:15, it will let me go right past it. By fast-forwarding and then backing up, I can resume playback starting at about 50:23 with no further...
Watched the disc tonight. Looks terrific on my screen. There might be a slight red push, but it really only seemed overdone in a couple of brief instances.
Unfortunately, my copy freezes at 50:21 on my OPPO 203. I assume that's the layer change. I can fast forward through it, but if I try to...
Looking only at flesh tones, the older transfer may seem to have natural colors, but everything else is super drab.
That said, I will agree with you that these two examples seem to have a red push in the UHD screenshots. However, given how problematic downconverting HDR and Wide Color Gamut...
I haven't seen the UHD yet and can't comment on it, but I will say that Reservoir Dogs never had a "gritty" look like some of you may think it should. Yes, the movie was a low-budget production, but it was shot mostly in a single tightly-controlled environment (very few exteriors or natural...
I saw it twice theatrically. The first time, my friends and I had trouble finding the theater and arrived a few minutes late, missing the opening scene. I went back to see it in another theater the following week.
I wouldn't say that few bothered to see it. Rather, the film only had a very limited theatrical release (Wikipedia says 61 theaters) before being rushed to home video. The movie caused a sensation at Sundance, and was hugely buzzed on the art film circuit while it played that fall. It was one of...
