    Indeed. This movie makes a nice companion piece to Branagh's Hamlet, which I'm still hoping will get a proper remaster from 65mm some day.

    It may not be the sort of title that immediately generates tons of excitement, but Before Night Falls is a very good movie and I'll be happy to upgrade it from DVD.

    It's really not at all unusual for two different scans performed years apart to have slightly different cropping. depending on how the equipment is calibrated. I'd imagine that the process for striking prints back in the day had similar issues - not to mention that theatrical projection has...

    I'm assuming they mean this one from 1980. Looks like it ran two seasons comprised of a TV movie pilot followed by 37 additional episodes. Not sure that really qualifies as a "miniseries." Also, it was on NBC, not HBO. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flamingo_Road_(TV_series)...

    DVD is still the format of choice for libraries, schools, and similar institutions. Criterion undoubtedly gets a lot of DVD sales through those channels.

    The difference here is that Warner Bros. owns all of its own back catalog, whereas Netflix had to license older content.
