The Amazon algorithm will default to a third party seller if they’re offering the same item in new condition at a better price than Amazon itself. They seem to factor shipping in when doing so. I’ve noticed this lately where some parties will undercut the sticker price by quite a bit to make you...

I’m not 4K equipped for my projector and physical media playback and have made the decision that I will be upgrading only when the current equipment fails, so I don’t think I’ll be jumping on board anytime soon. I’m happy to buy 4K discs to futureproof myself when they come with remastered BDs...

Thanks to this thread, I decided to watch Raiders last night and had a blast. It really is as close to a perfect film as one can get. Thinking about pairing Temple of Doom with Gunga Din soon.

I really like what they did with Crystal Skull. I like how the passage of time between films was acknowledged and honored, and I loved the way it played like a 50s b-movie in the same way the original trilogy played like 30s serials. I think all of the choices were right for doing Indy in the...

For me, it’s probably Raiders, Crystal Skull, Last Crusade and then Temple of Doom. I have spent over 30 years hoping to like Temple of Doom more than I do and it just never happens. It’s far from the worst movie I’ve ever seen but it just doesn’t hold my interest in the way the other three do.

I never thought about that until you guys mentioned it. Brody I never thought twice about because we never saw him out of his element in Raiders, and I guess I figured the same of Sallah. Neither case to me is in the same ballpark as something like, for instance, Marty McFly developing an...

They’ve left money on the table by not doing that, I agree. I like the extant BDs but I’d double dip on a combo set to futureproof myself and now I won’t.

Not to sidetrack this too much but we have numerous threads on the topic - the glue between layers often fails and depending on how bad it is, your player may be able to work through it, might get stuck, or might not play the disc at all. It’s less a function of how discs are packaged or how...

I get why Paramount isn’t putting a lot of trouble into this, if it was even their call. Lucasfilm controls the films, and has the vault with the material. Lucasfilm may not have been interested in creating new bonus material and if that’s the case, there’s nothing Paramount can do about that...

Unless the disc goes bad. There are lots of reasons to like discs and lots of reasons to like digital. I’m not sure “lasts forever” is one I’d cite for either.

BenQ has some very highly regarded models at price points under $1000. Ive not used them personally but they consistently get high marks in the market they cater to.
