I’ve seen Logan far more often in bits and pieces on TNT when I was a kid - I have the BD but my memory is really of the edited for TV version, which does not sound nearly as...interesting.
You’re not alone in that - the filmmakers were aiming for PG-13 and were utterly baffled by the lower rating, but it’s not like they were gonna go back and dub in Harry dropping an f-bomb to get back to PG-13. :)
I wouldn’t let my infant children watch Psycho, but I also recognize that it’s not an “R” by the current MPAA standards and depending on my kids maturity level and interest, I doubt I’d make them wait to be 17 to watch the movie if they wanted to see it. I honestly feel something like Rope might...
I just received an email from Universal’s replacement vendor asking for my mailing details and either my purchase receipt or a photo of the disc.
My guess is that they’re collecting information now and that it will probably take a month to manufacture and be ready to distribute new discs.
In the past, once they’ve created a generic form letter with instructions, they’ll send out that email to everyone who has filled out the form or written in. During non pandemic times it usually takes a couple weeks; may take longer now.
Agreed. This won’t be cheap for them; the cost of authoring new discs, replication, and replacement could eat up a significant chunk of the profits the disc was expected to generate.
For my HTPC setup, I’m keeping the previous transfer as the copy of record of the older version (didn’t that earlier disc have the real mono too?), and I’m using the new disc for the uncut version. I doubt I’ll watch the cut version again but I’ll keep it handy just in case - and an HTPC setup...
I’m sure this will fall under the heading of “agree to disagree” but I don’t consider what happened to Psycho to be censorship. Universal made a business decision in the 1960s that an edited version would be more financially viable to them than an unedited version and acted accordingly. I don’t...
I doubt it, it’s only a few seconds. I think it’ll be subtle but worthwhile. But the bigger point overall for me is, how often do you get to see a different version of something you thought you knew by heart?
Plus I’ve been waiting to rewatch Psycho for months, I often find myself doing mini...
I can’t remember the last time I was actually this excited for the delivery truck to drop off a movie. I had been thinking of revisiting Psycho all year and once this was announced I put that on hold so I’ve been anticipating this as if it were a new feature.
It’s available in both the UHD four movie set and the standalone - but of the four films, only Psycho has new material (the uncut version) so that’s why it’s the only one getting a solo BD release.
Curious as well. I doubt it’s terrible. It’s probably the same audio mixes from the previous...
There’s a four movie UHD set coming on Tuesday which includes Psycho, Vertigo, Rear Window and The Birds.
There is also a single disc Blu-ray of Psycho coming on Tuesday.
The reason Psycho is getting a new BD release is because it includes the newly rediscovered uncut version; Universal didn’t...
