Whatever issues are part of the film itself can't be as bad as watching it anagylph. The only 80s ones I've had real trouble with on 3D Blu-ray are Amityville 3D and Comin' At You - the others released so far aren't perfect but don't hurt my eyes.
I've heard that Flesh is particularly painful...
I would revisit F13-3D a lot more often if I had something better than the anagylph disc. I can tell from the disc that the 3D must be amazing, but as you know, the disc itself isn't. Alas, I live vicariously through your posts :)
Happy Halloween!!
If it's not too late... if I can make a friendly suggestion, please don't bother watching Gravity in 2D. That's very much a "3D or bust" title for me. Half of the movie is feeling like you're floating in space, and in my opinion, you just can't get that watching it in 2D.
The only one of those I've actually ever seen in full was the anaglyph DVD version of Part 3 in 3D. I'm pretty decent as far as movie variety goes, I've seen most of the things that most people say you should see, but I have a bit of a blind spot for horror... they just never seem to scare me...
That's one of my very few exceptions to the rule for me, both the TOS and TNG Blu-rays - they're both so spectacular looking that they're a joy to watch on the larger screen.
I don't have a "home theater" exactly but my living room has both a TV and a projector. With very rare exceptions, the projector is for movies and the TV is for, well, TV.
Most DVDs look fine on the projector but there have been a couple movies I ended up watching on the TV because they just...
This might be crazy, but I always imagined that if I got to design a home theater room, I'd built it so that in general it was a scope screen with flat movies displayed within the 2.35 height area, but that I'd also get removable or covetable screen extensions for the top and bottom of the scope...
That's an incredibly generous offer - I wish I was in the area! If I'm ever out on the west coast, I'll have to look you up :) In the meantime, keep the updates coming, I'm enjoying living vicariously through everyone here.
I'd heard that it's a mess in terms of alignment - Bob Furmanek (from the 3D Film Archive) over on his thread mentioned that he had spoken to Paul Morrissey about doing a restoration on the film and fixing the alignment errors, but Morrissey apparently first claimed that there was nothing wrong...
