Honestly no clue, I’ve never reviewed MPI product here so I’m not sure what their timeframe normally is. Some labels/studios ship product early but in general, especially with the pandemic and shortages/delays with everything, some titles get sent a week before, some the day of, some after the...

MPI press releases typically happen very close to street date, maybe a week or two before. We’re just not that close yet. I can’t imagine any reason for them not to make an announcement touting the disc content and new remastering when the time comes.

It’s also worth keeping in mind that this is black & white content with fairly static settings/backgrounds in a 4x3 aspect ratio and monaural audio - all attributes that require less space overall. A lot of us collectors reminded the peak period of DVD releases and equate more discs with...

MPI press releases typically come a couple weeks before product availability and orders on their own website usually don’t get turned on until much closer to street date.

Guys… Gary’s post about talking to MPI and being told it would take a decade to release the series…it’s an April Fools Day post…

That’s a good one! :D I will say that I think it’s important to point out, from a business perspective, that people who are interested in these releases should make an effort to preorder them or buy them as close to release date as possible, as early sales are the ones that count most for...

Speaking in general terms, these labels have publicity firms and/or internal publicity departments, and they’ll usually issue press releases to various entities simultaneously, either by sending a release directly or providing access to a website that has the information posted.

I think those concerns are unwarranted. The release hasn’t been announced yet. That means the people handling customer service have either not been informed of the new product, or aren’t allowed to discuss it yet. It’s not fair to expect people who aren’t yet informed of a release or aren’t...

14 seasons is a big endeavor and I would not be shocked to learn that some of this will be dependent on consumer response. If these initial releases meet their sales projections, I don’t see why more wouldn’t follow. On the other hand, if everyone makes the perfect the enemy of the good and...

MPI’s box set distributed through Time Life includes episodes from many more seasons beyond the first two. There’s a heck of a lot of speculation - including a fair bit of negativity - for an item that’s more than two months from street date, one for which an official press release has yet to...

MPI isn’t going to be keeping this a secret - within a few weeks there will almost certainly be a press release, more details and clearer presale links. I’m just gonna wait until all of that is sorted before I put my order in.

I think it’s likely to be the same type of presentation - at these price points I don’t think the budget is there to be creating multiple versions of the same episodes for different releases, and the effort to clear the commercials may be more difficult/complicated than it would be worth (from a...

My old neighbor reached out to check how we were doing post move and told me what the landlord rented out that one bedroom for after we moved out - price was in heart attack territory! However I miss that stove and oven. It wasn’t anything special but after 7 years there, I was one with it when...

I find the public domain quality almost part of the charm. A lot of these were watched in my tiny old kitchen on a small iPad (before I moved from my old apartment) and there was a certain charm in seeing them that way - plus on that small of a screen they looked pretty good. I don’t have a...

I’m currently at the beginning of season 9 in my hodgepodge collection of episodes. I doubt I’ll be finished with the entire run by the time these sets come out but it’ll be great to go back for a spell and see the kids all young again. So many of those early episodes I barely remember even...

I think that may be pushing it but who knows - I think it’s delightful that the first two are coming at once. That’s nearly 80 episodes in one go :)

I’d love a Blu-ray but I accept that might not be viable in today’s market - hopefully there will be a press release soon to illuminate product configuration and release plans. But even if it’s DVD only, this is fantastic news and a long time coming!

I think it’s worth repeating that the message sent out to Kickstarter backers a year ago stated that a compilation “best of” set would be the first release, and a chronological one would later follow. The Time Life release seems to be that compilation. I would think it’s more likely that Time...

I was referring specifically to the time period when the episodes first ran. It didn’t matter if a copyright in 1952 wasn’t perfectly executed because there would have been no practical way for the average viewer to exploit that. Obviously the advent of home video and subsequent platforms that...

Copyright law has changed various times over the years, and there have been different periods where that would have been enough. The other thing to remember (and I’m guessing most people reading this already know, so apologies for preaching to the choir) is that when these programs aired...

How does the presentation quality of the episodes on that set compare with the official “best of” releases that Shout Factory did a while back?
