Jumping in late here, but just wanted to say congrats on the new Cooper, Ron. I have an '04 Cooper S and love it. If they'd make an all wheel drive version with about 250hp I'd be in heaven. Alas, that'll probably never happen.

Hmm, of all the movies on Nils' list, I've only seen Enigma. Enjoyable movie, but I wish it had gotten a little more technical with the cryptography, ala Neal Stephenson's Cryptonimicon. But I guess there are some things can be done in books that would drag a movie to a slow death. So who's...

Remember, remember, the fifth of November Ladies and Gentledroogs, I have just returned from seeing V for Vendetta, and I must say, this is a very relevant, frightening, and immensely enojoyable film. Coincidentally, I watched Good Night, and Good Luck last night, and the parallels of the...

Hey Nils, can you do a matinee showing?

[Drive-by] I'm going to see V for Vendetta tomorrow at Alamo. Perhaps I'll post a thought or two if Nils will elevate me to part time droog. [/Drive-by as the droog collective wonders who this Jonathan DA fellow is]

I don't think Kong is going to be the Titanic people were predicting. The long slow character development arch at the beginning is going to limit re-views by young males, and a couple of the Fear Factor style action sequences are going to limit re-views by women (sorry to sound stereotypical)...

One of these days I am going to watch Battlefield Earth just to find out why everyone hates it. To hear people talk, you'd think it would cross over into the "so bad it's good" category. I've asked a few people about this, to which they reply, "No, it's just bad." Nils, when are you going to...

Yep. The song is Jersey Girl by Tom Waits. A classic. I'm bachin it all week if you want to get together for a movie of questionable taste, or whatnot. Personally, I think those promo shots of Charlize Theron in Aeon Flux make it look like a low budget b-movie. I hope they're planning to...

Got no time for the corner boys, down in the street makin' all that noise, don't want no whores on eighth avenue, cause tonight i'm gonna be with you. 'cause tonight i'm gonna take that ride, across the river to the jersey side, take my baby to the carnival, and i'll take you on...

Elijah, I believe that was White Zombie in the club scene in The Matrix, not NIN. I thought the music fit perfectly with the film. At the time, many of the coders I knew and hung around with were into the same music as used in the movie, so it just seemed a natural fit.

I must confess, I don't really understand the supposed magnetism of Jolie. She's attractive and all, but I haven't picked up on this fabled ability she has to totally dominate all sceens with her presence in them. Perhaps I'm not an astute enough viewer. 92" FP screen here. No way I'd ever...

What gets me about the bluetooth ear pieces is that the smaller they get the more people I see leaving them in even when they're not on a call. I see people walking around my office with them in and I'm pretty sure there's no one on the other end. You can usually tell when someone is listening...

I had never seen Lawarence of Arabia until a couple of years ago when a restored 70mm print came to Austin and was shown at the Paramount theater. Now, that's the way to see an epic film. The Paramount: Wait a minute, what am I doing in this thread? Who are you people? Nils!!! What have...
