While I have no info to support it, it looks to me as if they are not upgrading the dvd. Those are the same specs and extras that are on the currently available dvd. Perhaps the specs will update if a new dvd edition drops concurrent with the blu-ray.
At first I was disappointed to see yet another Criterion release of a film already on blu-ray. But now I’m excited. It’s one of my favorites.
But it is joining an ever lengthening list including Do the Right Thing, The Graduate, In Cold Blood, In the Heat of the Night, The Manchurian Candidate...
If The Prince of Tides really was going to be announced this month, it could very well be Streisand causing the delay. She is notorious for being late on approvals and finalizations.
Frankly, I think the only way Criterion would put out the ‘76 A Star is Born is if Barbra Streisand bought the company.
(And this from a huge Streisand fan.)
Wouldn't the 1:33 be technically more correct, as it was framed and shot for television and only received a theatrical release as an unintended afterthought?
Well, actually, I know. ;) Those hands look nowhere equal to me. The hand pointing to the 1 is obviously shorter than the other. Of course, the time is most probably completely and utterly irrelevant to the clue anyway since it can't be the Wilder film.
Except that the hands are reversed. The time on the cartoon is 1:23 (or thereabouts), the time on the title card is 4:05. Not saying it's not the clue, though. Just acknowledging the difference.
The clock looks like it reads 1:23 to me. Billy Wilder's "One, Two, Three?"
The ship might be Malick's "The New World."
Sky seems to indicate "Two Days, One Night."
