If you read the manual it may warn you about burn in, I know that Sony does warn you. If you are going to be watching so much 4x3 TV than you should buy a 4x3 tv and wait for the mainstream broadcasts to go that way. if not just use the zoom or full modes and forget about those bars altogether.
