...Or as a diner waitress (in S10's "The Barking Dog.")
Great post, Sean! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the series. I'm guessing several members here will echo your sentiments - especially regarding how much fun it's been working through the series in complete form.
Well, Ben, I'm lucky enough in that I don't have a storage space problem (at the moment)...but others certainly might. Frankly, though, I doubt the all-in-one series box of O & H would take up much more space then those 14 season DVD sets already do. I'm guessing the biggest complaint people...
Just received my S13 and S14 sets here in Japan today. As DaveHof mentions above, it's a trip to see the Nelsons and co. (and their loud mid-'60s home decor) in vivid color in the final season. (BTW, David, you can get a brief glimpse of secretary Connie Harper in full color in S14's "The Trip...
This coming Tuesday is the release date for seasons 13 and 14, right? It'll be great see this series fully completed on DVD!
Anyone get their set(s) yet? Will be ordering mine real soon.
It's not too difficult to take screengrabs, Tim, if you have either a computer with a built-in DVD drive or an external DVD player. If you do, just pop a disc in the player and open it with some kind of media player software (I use VLC Media Player, but there are many other options). Choose an...
Well, Tim, it turns out that sneaky ol' Oz re-used the exact same footage of Nina Shipman staring adoringly at Rick as he croons out "Young World" at the end of "The Student Nurse" for the ending of "The Girl in the Ski Lodge" (though with Rick singing a different song in the latter).
Watched...
Thanks, Tim! I'll try and give "The Student Nurse" and "The Apartment" a spin later this week and post some more screencaps of the lovely Nina Shipman.
This one's for you, Tim:
The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet
11.15 “The Girl in the Ski Lodge”
11.19 “The Goat”
Cutie pie Nina Shipman pops up in four episodes of this long-running and consistently amusing ABC sitcom. In these two agreeable outings, she plays two completely different girls...
Just saw Nina Shipman in a S1 Daniel Boone episode, alongside Fay Spain ("The O'Hanrahan Sisters.") She was a nice-looking lady, for sure. Glad to hear that she's still with us. Will be sure to check out her Ozzie and Harriet guest appearance sometime soon.
Gotta love these old movie mags. Would anyone actually ever want "50 pix of Edd Byrnes"? And it's fun to imagine Rick's "gang" tangling with Fabian's. Maybe they rumbled via interpretative dance, ala West Side Story.
Good stuff as always, Scott!
Nice overview of the various actresses who debuted or appeared on the show over the years, Tim! Agree completely, the IMDB cast credits for this series read like a laundry list of attractive actresses of the '50s and '60s, some of whom went on to bigger things (like Linda Evans) and many who...
A bit behind most of you guys, but I finally received my S11 and S12 Ozzie and Harriet sets this week, from Import CDs. Took about two weeks from when I placed my order till receipt of the sets here in Japan (via UPS Canada), but as usual with Import CDs, they were nicely and securely packed in...
Those S14 color screencaps look very good. Thanks for posting them, Darin!
Hopefully we'll get a release date announcement for the last two O & H seasons real soon.
Thanks for the recommendation, Josh! Like Neal, I watched this episode after your post and really enjoyed it. Seeing (or, more precisely, hearing) Ozzie's antics in the jet was a hoot and a half!
The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet - 5.19 "The Duenna"
David meets a pretty Spanish girl named Lucita in the malt shop and asks her to the dance, but she can only go out with him if she brings along her "duenna," or chaperone. Ozzie, expecting the duenna in question to be a nice little...
Finally received my S5 and S6 sets. (Packaging note: Import CDs did a FAR better job than Amazon US in packing these for international delivery...they arrived in mint condition this time). It took a while for them to get here, but as they happened to arrive just in time for my birthday, I'm not...
Just watched "Who's Walter?" the other night (another good one). Only a couple more episodes to go and I'll have finished season one. (I'm much slower making it through stuff than you other fellas...)
Still haven't received my S5 and S6 DVD sets yet...guessing they'll show up sometime...
A couple of excellent, insightful posts, Josh - thanks! I think you articulated very well a few of the key elements that make The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet so ineffably charming, comfortable viewing, and the Nelsons such pleasant company to spend time with.
On a side note: I also this...
My copies of S3 and S4 are en route, scheduled for delivery at my family's home in WA State by tomorrow...and I'll be there on Friday (if all goes well with my flight).
Pictures or it didn't happen, Josh! ;)
Seriously, thanks for the heads-up about the potential Amazon street date delay for S3 and S4, and for the info about Bullmoose. Haven't used that vendor before, but have heard many good things about them in recent years, so will likely go with them this...
Yes, I will be preordering seasons 3 and 4 very soon. I'm heading back to the States for two weeks at the end of this month (first time back since 2019!), and so will have these two shipped to my family's home in WA instead of Japan. Perfect timing for this next release!
Here's hoping that we...
It's been rather quiet in here lately. Guess everyone's got their season 1 and 2 sets by now and is busy watching them.
I've been continuing my sojourn through S1, probably much more slowly than many members here. I've been pretty much watching an episode a night, usually right before bed, and...
Sorry to hear that your sets are backordered, Bob.
Yes, definitely some psychobabble in that Pop Matters piece (and a real pain-to- read website layout), but a fascinating article nonetheless, with an overall appreciative take on the series. It also includes a link to a very interesting...
And "The Busy Christmas" and "Christmas Tree Lot" in time for Christmas 2022! (And "Captain Salty and the Submarine," and "Tutti Frutti Ice Cream," and...)
Have watched a few episodes from season one so far, beginning with 1.1 "The Rivals" (nicely screencapped by Neal a.k.a The 1960's a few pages back). It was charming and delightful in this series' typical low-key, naturalistic way, with several moments and lines which made me laugh out loud. My...
