OK, that was a fantastic episode, loved every minute of it. Wonderful to see Riker and Troi again. Both Jonathan Frakes and Marina Sirtis did excellent work, and their interactions with Picard gave me the warm fuzzies.

I liked that scene a lot, too, Josh - the dramatic high point of the episode for me.

Oh, trust me, I like conflict. The Original Series was chock full of conflict, which is one of the main reasons I love it so...but it always went hand-in-hand with a sense of hope and humanity's striving to better itself. I do think there is a tendency to dip towards darkness for darkness' sake...

Good points, Josh! Hopefully, the showrunners are building up to something more life-affirming and positive to wrap up the season.

Didn't really care for this episode, the weakest for me so far, by far. I hate to say this, as it is a tired fanboy cliche, but the show is feeling less and less like Star Trek to me. Very dark and bleak (which I know is the intention, but still...) I don't mind dark and bleak if it fits, lots...

And my point was that outside of North America (thus, not Canada), Picard is not available on Netflix, but on Amazon Prime.

While there are many good to great episodes scattered throughout seasons 6 and 7 of TNG, there are also some real duds. The writers seemed to be running out of high-concept sci-fi ideas and instead focused more on building out the extended family of our main crew members - at least, that's how...

Discovery, and all pre-Discovery Trek shows, are on Netflix, true. However, Picard is only available on Amazon Prime outside of North America, as far as I'm aware.

I found the second episode a little less interesting than the first one...mainly because, like Nelson, I'm a bit tired of the "conspiracy" angle that has proliferated in so many TV shows and movie series over the past 15-20 years. Also, there was less focus on Picard himself this episode, and...

Lots of questions left after this first episode, but my main takeaway is just how great it is to have Jean-Luc Picard back in action on our screens. No surprise, but Patrick Stewart is on top form. Can't wait to see where this goes...
