I also am completely baffled at a Pro PS5 release already. Support issues aside, no software has really been released yet that really taps into or strains what the base PS5 can do. So what the hell is the need for a 'pro'? PS4 games have anchored down any innovation on the PS5 for so long, we...
Lol, no there won't be a PS6 for a looooong time. They're just now starting to make games that require the ps5 to play. 90% of all the big titles still have ps4 versions that release.
So the 'Matrix Awakens' tech demo is jaw dropping. The scripted car chase is kind of meh, but once you get to walking/driving/flying around the city, omg it's insane. Never seen anything like it. Hopefully this kind of tech gets put into actual games before the end of the PS5 lifecycle.
I wouldn't get it for discs. It's really only useful for the included streaming services on the PS5 and not for physical media, as it completely lacks any chapter stop or just plain old stop buttons. Charge is fine, as it uses batteries like any other remote.
Well, that's kind of my point, actually. When the main selling point of a new console is that it plays your existing games slightly better, instead of actual next gen stuff that you can't get on the old console, that's an issue.
Instead of being a next gen console, it's just a PS4 Pro Pro.
If they would just start putting these in physical stores instead of doing the online only thing that would help a great deal towards people actually being able to find one.
That being said, this launch has been pretty much a big joke. It should have not even launched at all until 2022...
I finished Returnal with the true ending over the past few days. This was an amazing game that really was a showcase of what the PS5 could do. I'm not a huge fan of the roguelite genre and came close to raging more than once when a great 2 hour run got wiped with nothing to show for it. But...
I've always picked the prioritize graphics over framerate options in a game if it has them. For some reason framerate has never been noticeable that much to me. I mean we all watch movies here in 24hz without issue.
It's not the type of game I would normally be interested, but the one thing that makes it a day 1 purchase for me is the developer Housemarque. They made some of the finest arcade titles ever on the ps3 and ps4 and have earned my support.
I would certainly assume so. The standalone player does it just fine, so there should be absolutely no reason why this can't.
If there is a way, I have no idea how to do it. The current place where you enable HDR is the system menu, in the display options. This menu runs at 60+hz, and when I...
Man the PS5 is just awful as a UHD movie player. Not only is their 'official' media remote missing the stop, chapter forward and back buttons, but it's completely unable to do HDR in my situation.
I am using a projector that can only do HDR for frame rates of 30hz or less. Not a problem at...
Well the main difference there is that people don't line up for hours before hand and then swarm the clothing department to buy a pair of socks.
I would say that people who pre-ordered are the main ones who got their consoles, and that probably 90% of the ones on actual release day went to...
Nope, there's no reason at all currently to buy the camera if you're not going to want to film yourself while streaming.
They don't care. A sale is a sale. Doesn't matter to them if it's an actual human or a bot script buying it.
Yeah, I was able to get one from Best Buy, and it actually sent me a verification code through email that I had to enter on the site to process my order. This is probably the only reason I was able to get one.
You had no chance to begin with. Bot scripts snatch them all up the second they are released.
I was online for all 4 wal-mart releases and every single time went exactly the same. Refresh quickly at the release time, click add to cart, and then once you get in your cart, lag, crash, we're...
Well hopefully it will at least just bitstream the damn atmos out so my reciever can decode it. Pretty damn pathetic as a media machine though. Just like the ps4. Man I miss the ps3 as the end all be all media player.
Does it? It says in that official FAQ from Sony itself that it supports Dolby True HD (7.1). That's not the same thing as Atmos is it? Or is it?
Which audio output formats does PS5 support?
PS5 will support the following audio formats:
Dolby Digital (max 5.1ch)
Dolby Digital Plus (max...
I don't see any mention of Dolby Atmos support. Looks like this will not be replacing my normal UHD player.

Not really sure what you mean by rushed. The gap between ps4 and ps5 is 7 years, which is the same as ps3 to ps4, and even longer than ps2 to ps3, and ps1 to ps2.
Physical media version for me all the way. If the ps5 is as good of a UHD player as the ps3 was a blu ray player then it will become my main player. (Although I have my doubts about this seeing as the official sony media remote doesn't even have a stop, chapter forward, or chapter backward...
That's correct. Just like The Playroom was the pack in game for the PS4. Maybe it will get a vr upgrade later, but so far no PS5 exclusive VR games have been announced.
Is GT7 even going to be a launch title? I haven't seen any information on a release date for it. I'm interested in it too. I'm even more interested in what the hell is going on with the Thrusmaster T-GT wheel. They made that one specifically for GT Sport on the PS4 with feedback technology...
Yeah, currently, playing The Last of Us 1 or 2 on PS5 would just be playing a PS4 game through backwards compatibility like any other PS4 game.
They haven't announced anything regarding a specific PS5 remaster of either game, but I'd bet vital parts of my anatomy that there absolutely will be...
The problem with using the PSVR to watch movies is just the resolution and tracking. When they first released the 3d blu-ray support in VR, I popped in Dr Strange to check it out. The 3d effect was fine, but it was like watching a DVD instead of a blu ray. And every 3 minutes I had to hold...
