Of course there should have been an option for those not comfortable going to a theater. But putting it on the same day as the theatrical release without even a surcharge meant that many people who were totally comfortable going to a theater stayed home. It also hurt the theater owners (who...
I'm thrilled to see that HBOMax's decision to stream films day-and-date with the theatrical releases cost them a billion dollars. I thought it would end up as a financial failure, but geez....a billion dollars! Hopefully, this will put a stop this nonsense and help restore the theatrical...
I'm not a Roku owner. If I were, I'd be replacing it with a Chromecast or Apple TV. Neither of those devices are holding streaming platforms hostage. HBO Max, Peacock and Quibi are all available on both of them.
Does anyone know where to find the movies that are leaving? The "Last Chance" section isn't complete. Open Range isn't listed there, but yet if you pull it up, it does state it's leaving at the end of the month. It seems like websites are keeping track of things leaving Hulu and Netflix but...
How did AT&T bungle the deal? They've offered the app to Roku. Roku won't allow it. They insist on it being a "channel" because they want to take a percentage of the monthly subscription.

Good point. If I'm not mistaken, you can't get his show until 6 a.m. the next day on Now or Go. I have HBO through Hulu, so I can still see it live at the moment, but was going to switch to Max when it becomes available. I guess this needs clarifying before I make the switch.
During the livestream, it was mentioned that a deal would be offered to the non-AT&T distributors. They didn't give any details as to what kind of "deal" it would be though.
That's probably in part because of Disney CEO Robert Iger's quote back in March saying "at some point, fairly soon after launch, [Disney+] will house the entire Disney motion picture library."
If Disney is doing that, people are assuming that others will be doing the same.
