A Few Words About A few words about…™ Back to the Future: The Ultimate Trilogy - in 4k UHD Blu-ray

There definitely seems to have been an issue with this specific release. As I noted around the time of its release, this is the only time I got so frustrated with trying to find a decent steelbook that I gave up and bought the regular release instead. It was just too hard trying to find a copy...

Respectfully, I know what I saw. I saw the crease on the shrinkwrap, and I also saw scratches separate from the creases. The scratches appeared in different places on different sets. They were obviously damaged from the factory before they had gotten to the store, which means it is a...

I get that. But I just got fed up with it. The steelbooks are a $20 premium over the regular edition, which would be fine with me if they were in good condition. But especially after looking through four copies and finding them all scratched, I just couldn't justify paying a hefty premium for...

As long as you can find steelbooks that are undamaged, yes.

As has been well documented here, I hate the packaging of the new set. However, I would absolutely encourage you to buy it anyway. Even in the included Blu-rays, the films look much better than their previous releases, and the new supplements are a great addition to almost everything carried...

Good for you. I'm glad they do exist and you were able to get oee. I ordered it online and I noticed a very visible scratch on the spine of Part II underneath the shrinkwrap, which means it had to have been sealed like that in the factory. Then I went to my local store to try to exchange it...

I'm only using the Blu-rays rather than the included 4Ks because I'm not equipped with the set, so this might not be a 1-to-1 comparison. But all of them played just fine for me. Maybe try it in another player if you have one? Out of curiosity @Dave Moritz, are all of the steelbooks in your...

Well, Universal Australia gets it. Look at this unboxing for their edition:

There is no spindle. There isn't even a tray. The packaging does a garbage job of storing and protecting the discs. Universal got too focused on making something that looks fancy and forgot about basic functionality. Watch this unboxing video to see what we mean:

Well, I have good news and I have bad news. The type of sleeve have would not fit into the cardboard disc holders themselves However, at least the type I have will fit inside the book itself. I put the sleeves on the "page" in the book for their corresponding film. For example, the discs for...

You recall correctly. However, it only has space for 6 discs (3 discs for the movies + 3 digital copy DVD-ROM discs), which still leaves one disc in the 4K set without a corresponding holder because the new edition comes with a bonus disc, in addition to the 4Ks and new BDs. I thought about...

That's a good idea. I already have a bunch of those, so I'll try it and see if they fit inside the books. Thanks.

A Few Words About A few words about…™ Back to the Future: The Ultimate Trilogy - in 4k UHD Blu-ray

After fiddling with the discs in the incompetent "disc book" packaging last night, I have to admit that I would consider another purchase if they would put the discs in keep-cases with a tray and hub to keep them safe. This is why I wanted the steelbooks, but I couldn't find an undamaged copy...

I don't think we will ever see that released in a more substantial way than the couple of shots that are already in the making-of documentary. While I understand the curiosity around it and would probably watch it if I'm wrong, I'm totally fine with that. It's not like he was ever the first...

But seriously...Universal has been releasing these about every five years or so now. At this point, what will be left for them to use to lure buyers again in 2025?
