It was always freezing up and needing a hard reboot, no problems with XP especially after service pack 2 and none with Windows 7.

Windows XP was nice and stable, at least after the service pack came out and, then they ruined things a little bit with Windows Vista but i'm finding Windows 7 to be an enjoyable hassle free experience. ( so far )

If that was true then George wouldn't have put out the originals as a bonus feature on the DVD boxset years ago, that would earn royalties since it's out there.

So by your logic a filmmaker can do anything he wants to "his" movie, he can turn the oceans yellow and the skies red whereas, in the original cinema release both might be blue, according to you, that's his right, no i don't think so, the filmmaker does have a responsibility to the people, he is...

Is edge enhancement on DVD necessary for a good image, i often hear people saying it's a necessary evil and you need to sharpen up the DVD but i just tend to disagree with the levels they use, since you work on these things i'd like your opinion.

So you would argue for revisionism, i would argue for the original art being preserved.

Why keep changing things all the time, the colour timing has already been approved for the theatrical release, so yes, please stop this practice.

I don't think it is a matter of opinion, the movie is made, it's colour timed, the brightness/contrast levels are set and known by the director and cinematographer and that's it, now make your 4K scan and get it looking like it looked in 1981, don't change it just to keep up with the latest fad...

A Few Words About While we wait for A few words about...™ Raiders of the Lost Ark -- in Blu-ray

I think they should just leave the colour timing as it was back in 1981, same goes for other films, leave alone, don't change, if it's good enough when you filmed it and made your answer print then it's good enough now, i was just asking, albeit in a roundabout way, which version has the correct...

I took a peek at my DVD boxset ( now worth practically nothing and not worth selling ) and it claims they were restored and remastered, presumably with Spielberg's involvement, so i can see why some people are questioning the look of the new Raiders and asking why it doesn't match the so called...

I do realize this but these are high profile releases, if those two films have visible aliasing that distracts when viewed on a projection setup then it's a fail and not a pass.

If Temple Of Doom and Last Crusade have aliasing then something has gone wrong somewhere down the line, it shouldn't be there, i think 3:10 To Yuma is another film which was released with bad aliasing a few years back, indeed didn't Warner's first blu ray release of Enter The Dragon have it also.

It works great, i bought a blu ray mail order, it must have come loose in the case but it didn't have a single scratch on it, i had that happen many times to DVD movies and the reverse was true because everytime the disc had scratches on it, it's not scratches that would worry me it's how...

It's not just the discs either, how long will packaging like this last before rips appear and degradation sets in, as a collector i like these things to last and i don't want to have to buy separate cases just to ensure that. I was twelve when i saw it, like you i went back many times to view it again and again, i can't remember that far back on how it looked, probably due to the fact i have seen it countless times on VHS, TV and DVD and my recollection is tampered by those viewings, all i can say is you have an...

The sound was worked on at a 96khz sampling rate, i remember reading Leon is on blu ray with a 24bit 96khz 5.1 soundtrack, one of the very few that is ( Akira is another ? ) any reason why they could not have put these films out with 96khz 5.1, just wondering and i know my ears are unlikely to...

A Few Words About While we wait for A few words about...™ Raiders of the Lost Ark -- in Blu-ray

The colour timing of the blu ray matches Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull and Spielberg asked Kaminski to study the photography on the first three films so they would match up, that tells me this is how Raiders should look, since it matches that last film and they shot that last film to match the...

They reconstructed the titles of Frenzy, used the wrong font, didn't spell some people's names right and generally messed things up big time, now that is what i call a major problem, not this.

The only downside is that you can't buy these separately, i really, really, really, really do not want Crystal Skull and i'd like to be able to buy them in cases on their own.

Can you tell me if the captures are done at 0-255 or 16-235, 16-235 will make everything brighter when viewed on a computer display, i hope that's what has happened here.

Yes we do. This is all wrong, i don't care about the DVD look, that was also probably wrong but clouds do not get blown out like this in a film shot in 1981, it's a contrast boost doing the damage. http://img534.imageshack.us/img534/13/indy2zbd.png Original shot where the clouds are...
