I enjoyed Discovery, it was shown on Netflix in the UK, i love the 2.39:1 aspect ratio and hope they keep it for season 3.
Its the fortieth anniversary of Star Trek the motion picture, come on Paramount, spend some bucks and redo the fx of the directors cut and release on UHD 4k disc.
I think we can all agree that the best thing to avoid these arguments of which version anyone prefers is to have both cuts of the film on the disc via seamless branching, what was so easy for dvd seems so hard to do right on blu ray, it's about spending the money, scanning the material...
A review i have read says this about the soundtrack.
Speaking of the original material, CBS/Paramount has also seen fit to provide the show's unrestored monaural soundtracks in Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono format. You can choose this audio over either version of the episodes.
He seems to be suggesting its acceptable, i disagree, his point about going up to the screen to spot EE certainly seemed to be thread baiting because i don't do that and no one else i know does that, you see it clearly from your seating position.
People are of course welcome to defend bad...
I disagree totally, you can say some people don't see it but to argue that it is a perception thing is nonsense, it is either there or it isn't, you seem to be in denial of any problems, do you actually think Star Trek 4 and 6 are acceptable transfers.
Yes we have different tolerance levels...
There is a huge difference between excessive DNR and EE and attempting to repair damage caused by heat on the OCN, they used the best possible tools at this time to correct that damage, if they had not done so it would look worse than doing so.
Televisions are getting bigger and projectors are...
I noted it and i wrote about it on my own site, i did not find that to be an issue, i guess if you don't know about the history of the film or about how they filmed it then you might complain about it, i haven't checked Amazon reviews but i guess there could be some complaints. Incidentally who...
That dead horse can come back to life, all it takes is news that Paramount are giving us the directors cut of the motion picture and we would be halfway there, further news of new 4K scans ( hell even new 2K scans would be good ) of the other films and, that they will include the extended and...
The reason you buy into blu ray is for the high definition image, if i wanted dnr, edge enhancement and artifacts galore then i'd stick with the dvd release, they can have a terrible menu system, awful packaging, zero extra content and i'd still buy the film on blu ray if the image quality and...
There is nothing to celebrate when there are some major issues with several of those releases.
No one is asking for perfection, i am asking for competency, using old masters and then adding copious amounts of DNR and edge enhancement is nothing to celebrate, i'm glad for you Jason if you enjoy...
It's a pity they have yet to invest in new film scans for all of the series except the 2nd film.
They see the films making money with substandard transfers, when people buy poor quality product it sends the wrong message out, the studio thinks why bother spending money on them, as a business...
Andy loves his laserdiscs but i think he is unaware of how they made them and the SD masters used.
One can argue the sound quality merits for some laserdisc titles when compared to a blu ray but not the picture quality, at this point i'd be happy to just get Star Trek: The Motion Picture in the...
I have a name Kevin, try using it, sorry you don't get my humour, maybe i need to use the smiley more.
I didn't want to get into the reasons yet again as we have covered them but if you seriously think Star Trek 4 and 6 are fine for blu ray then i don't know what to say, the only one which...
