    Aladdin (2019)

I guess people just enjoy watching warmed over rehashes of much better films. There is no accounting for taste.

    Aladdin (2019)

Were you meaning to say can't be supplanted? Or did you really mean that the re-make could supplant the original in your eyes?

    Aladdin (2019)

The trailer was playing again in front of Detective Pikachu. I really can't help it but every time I see a trailer for one of these rote live action/CGI remakes all I can ask myself is why? It isn't like the thing is terrible as much as it just generates the feeling of being totally unnecessary.

    Aladdin (2019)

It was a 3D showing. The 3D format was RealD. The trailer was in 3D as well, IIRC.

    Aladdin (2019)

They ran the trailer for this film in front of my viewing of Avengers: Endgame. As usual, I wasn't too impressed. Although, it does look more watchable than "The Lion KIng".

    Hmmmm. :emoji_thinking:

    Aladdin (2019)

The "Dumbo" trailer played in front of "HTTYD3" in my local theatre. I pretty well closed my eyes through the entire thing. Even listening to it was almost too much. There hasn't been much buzz about this one. Maybe Disney is already writing "Aladdin" off as a disaster and making little effort...

    Aladdin (2019)

That first line was hilarious. It's pretty well-known what I think of Igor's live-action adaptations of much better Disney animated films, so I'll try to say nothing more about this one other than I agree your second sentence, the first part of your third sentence and the totality of the fourth...

    Aladdin (2019)

You asked, so........Yes, I do think there is a large audience of adult "movie lovers" who will not go to an animated film without the beard of children. Many adults will only go to see an animated flick because of their children or as a reason to justify going to something that might enjoy, but...

    Aladdin (2019)

Well, Disney obviously believes that a previously untapped demographic is going to see these films with their insistence that their upcoming Lion King remake is "live action", not animated, which it clearly isn't: live action that is. . I would have preferred that they not shoot it at all, but...

    Aladdin (2019)

Not quite sure why you felt you needed to do that, since everything posted here is opinion. But....okay. It is obvious to me that whatever demographic data DIsney has collected is indicating that these films are attracting a large component of adults that would not be caught be caught...

    Aladdin (2019)

It doesn't take much imagination to deduct that Ritchie is going to introduce a rival for Jasmine's affections. He isn't casting a white actor so the guy can be a 30 second sight gag like the "suitors" in the original film. He is going to be an integral part of the story as a rival, so that...

    Aladdin (2019)

The worst thing about this film, other than it being made in the first place, is Guy Ritchie deciding that the original story isn't good enough when it comes to Aladdin and Jasmine's relationship, so he is going to inject a lame, cliche love triangle involving a foreign Prince, who just happens...

    Aladdin (2019)

Will Smith is the Genie. A Prince played by a white actor has been added to an Arabic folktale. A Brit of East Indian descent is playing Jasmine. :rolling-smiley::rolling-smiley: I was going to make a joke about the Pink Power Ranger playing Aladdin, but at least that guy is of Middle Eastern...

    Aladdin (2019)

Really. you guys think "Aladdin" won't flop when the whole show was nothing more than a showcase for Robin Williams's comedic timing and talent as a voice actor and impersonator. Right. I guess hope really does spring eternal. Also, I guess no one has heard of the saying that past performance is...

    Aladdin (2019)

I can only hope that this occurs. In fact, I hope Disney ends up slaughtering it, not just killing it. The faster this trashing of their animated classics ends the better. When I first heard they were planning a live action remake of DUMBO, I thought it was one of the dumbest ideas to ever come...
