    RAINTREE COUNTY on Blu?

Thank you, Andrew. I thought that HD presentation wasn't too bad at all. Would love to stream or buy and download it when and if it becomes available.

    RAINTREE COUNTY on Blu?

Anybody know if the HD Raintree Country as seen on TCM is still available for streaming from any source?

    RAINTREE COUNTY on Blu?

Guess there is a BIG problem with my on demand from Spectrum. It looked so bad I couldn't watch it. Not sure what I could have done with settings. I don't have a DVR at present, so it was a horrible situation.

    RAINTREE COUNTY on Blu?

Sadly, I missed the TCM Raintree broadcast. I did pull it up from the free TCM "on demand" option. What I found was a horrible 4:3 "widescreen" mess with massive black borders as one finds on many cheapo pseudo-scope DVDs. Just wondering if anyone knows about an existant true HD streaming option...

    RAINTREE COUNTY on Blu?

How about that Italian PAL "Cinema & Cultura" DVD now for sale at Amazon for $17.84, which is titled L'Albero Della Vita and is listed as a 16:9/2.35:1 disc. It's the 160 minute version and I heard somewhere that it's not a bad transfer. I'm just wondering if anyone here owns it or has more...

    RAINTREE COUNTY on Blu?

And it would be too financially challenging to burn a run or so of this hypothetical restored archival print, already digitally scanned for streaming sales, to blu-ray disc for fans of the film to purchase? I could understand this with the likes of From Hell it Came but not with Raintree County.

    RAINTREE COUNTY on Blu?

A sometimes optimist, I hope and pray that the "new" gang from AT&T will realize that what they have crowding their vaults and utilizing the millions they have in scanning and restoration devices would result in more profits than simply sitting on their asses and letting classic elements...

    RAINTREE COUNTY on Blu?

According to your "taste" or definition of what is "horrible", that is.

    RAINTREE COUNTY on Blu?

Everyone does things differently, I suppose. I re-bought The Quiet Man, Johnny Guitar and Journey to the Center of the Earth (not cheap) when better elements became available from the same companies. Hows about a standard DVD from WB Archives...just anything. Hoping that WB procrastination...

    RAINTREE COUNTY on Blu?

Again, I guess I'm just puzzled why "did what they could" with Giant is "okay" but a damned nice looking Raintree County (to my eyes on an HDTV broadcast) is out of the question. With "not having it at all" is obviously the only alternative, sadly I end up pretty disgruntled.

    RAINTREE COUNTY on Blu?

I get that it's not perfect, some little blemishes here and there, but the moment it started up that night on PBS I was hypnotized by it. Loved every minute. I'm one who can be rather picky about image quality, but my eyes were certainly pleased by what I was experiencing. Now Giant, that...

    RAINTREE COUNTY on Blu?

The choice between "pretty decent", which is still my impression of the PBS showing I experienced some time ago, and nothing at all just seems ridiculous. I will always treasure my pretty hideous blu-ray of Lon Chaney's Hunchback of Notre Dame and sub-standard DVD of Leisen's Kitty because that...

    RAINTREE COUNTY on Blu?

Not goofy in my opinion but to your taste, obviously. Plenty of people here seem really interested in it. In the meantime, must be I need extensive eye surgery since what I saw in the PBS broadcast looked great with very minor problems, period. It appeared to have been an HD source, too. As...

    RAINTREE COUNTY on Blu?

I guess with WB it's either fastidious or not at all, and the fans be damned. Personally, pristine second rate often obscure and forgettable fare is nothing I can get interested in. They sit on a mountain of fabulous classics and dole out some pretty goofy stuff. Then, at least give us a...

    RAINTREE COUNTY on Blu?

Just wish WB Archives would give it a whirl in one way or another. All this about their releasing only pristine material is utter bull. After all, I bought the almost unwatchable Swordsman of Siena from them. Compared to that this Raintree Country broadcast was jaw dropping.

    RAINTREE COUNTY on Blu?

It was a sort of accidental viewing, so all I know is I did see the entire film last Friday on what my friend told me was a "Friday night at the movies" sort of broadcast on a BBC and/or PBS channel at about 8:00 and was surprised at how good it looked. I'd certainly guess that the recent TCM...

    RAINTREE COUNTY on Blu?

I'll swear, Robin, that what I watched on Friday night, and on a nice HDTV, would make one stellar blu-ray. I own quite a few BDs that look horrid in comparison to what I saw.

    RAINTREE COUNTY on Blu?

I watched what I believe was the longer roadshow version of Raintree County on what I recall was a BBC channel's "TCM style" broadcast last Friday evening at a friend's house here in Los Angeles. I was surprised that the image was really stellar and sharp, just marred by occasional white "dots"...

    RAINTREE COUNTY on Blu?

I really like this movie, too, and am joining everyone in hoping it will get a blu-ray release from WB soon. The John Green score is fabulous, as well.

    RAINTREE COUNTY on Blu?

Excellent point, but I just wonder why there isn't a good MOD manufacturing setup for blu-ray. I've gotten burned BDs of friends home movies and they seem to play just fine. Still, I DO have an Oppo, which plays anything you throw at it.

    RAINTREE COUNTY on Blu?

The only blu-ray I'd actually "complain" about is Universal's SPARTACUS. I even kept the old Fox PATTON because it didn't bother me nearly as much as it did others, of course it isn't one of my "top 100" films. I won't complain about my recent German BD of THE CARDINAL, either. At least I...

    RAINTREE COUNTY on Blu?

WB seems a bit ambivalent about American folks who love films from the 50's and want them in BD. Thank God for Olive, Fox and Kino! Of course, maybe this gives some hope that they will be willing to make deals internationally.

    RAINTREE COUNTY on Blu?

The one program I really would love to own is the '56 ALEXANDER THE GREAT, which was directed by your namesake. Do you have that one?

    RAINTREE COUNTY on Blu?

Maybe I'm one of the only people who actually really likes and enjoys RAINTREE COUNTRY, but I certainly hope not. I really do wish that WB would give it a proper blu-ray as I will be one of the first to pre-order it. Only yesterday I won an ebay bid for an original souvenir program for the...

    RAINTREE COUNTY on Blu?

I like RAINTREE COUNTY, actually. If I REALLY want to be bored, I'll go to my local multiplex, pick a film at random, pay my admission and attempt to sit through it. Never fails that I am either bored to tears or insulted and often just walk out. Sad thing is that the pieces of crap that are...
