    Criterion Blu-ray titles!

Waited for the B & N sale to pick up the Tod Browning set but Amazon had it for exactly the same discounted price.

    Criterion Blu-ray titles!

Not to mention the purgatory of Warner Brothers' vault. They've driven Kevin Brownlow's restored silents into a Purgatorio worthy of Dante, too, which drove me to start buying up many old MGM laserdiscs to transfer the silent masterpieces to DVD. Only way I'll ever have them, which is sad.

    Criterion Blu-ray titles!

I guess that Kino/Lorber are my "new" Criterions and these are the ones I've so many of I should probably arrange them in some special way as well. It wasn't always this way.

    Criterion Blu-ray titles!

Well, now that they have the WB connection, how about any of these...Greed, The Wind, The Crowd, The Student Prince in Old Heidelberg, Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (the Brownlow restorations with the Carl Davis/Robert Israel scores) or anything like them, maybe an upgrade of Pandora's Box...

    Criterion Blu-ray titles!

Well, at least you found two. Me none.

    Criterion Blu-ray titles!

The only one I might be up for is Dance, Girl, Dance, but with the thousands real WB classics gathering dust on their shelves waiting for an HD upgrade, probably not. In the meantime, thank God for Kino. This will be the first time I won't visit B&N for the next Criterion sale. Nothing for me...

    Criterion Blu-ray titles!

I'm hoping for both Big Broadcast of 1938 and International House (either/or most likely). Both are a hoot and so much fun. I'll be buying up future Kino titles like crazy, not so much Criterion.

    Criterion Blu-ray titles!

Maybe Destry Rides Again, but I'm on the fence for that as well. Hardly any "must haves" coming down the Criterion Pike for me these days.

    Criterion Blu-ray titles!

All the two annoying robots do for over two hours is bitch and beep, give me Magnani any day of the week.

    Criterion Blu-ray titles!

Well, Lenny Maltin gives it a big three and a half stars, a film where "Magnani shines" in a " flavorful adaptation" of T. Williams". So, just fight it out with Len and I. Because it is a classic if only for the fabulous Alex North score and Magnani's delicious "the body of my husband with...

    Criterion Blu-ray titles!

Where does this leave some of the Paramount owned classics like The Rose Tattoo, Lady in a Cage and Greatest Show on Earth? Can't believe these are still stalled waiting for an HD release. At least Criterion is letting one grand classic out a month. Only The Heiress for me and A Face in the...

    Criterion Blu-ray titles!

I totally agree. I loved Fanny for as long as I can remember and had the pleasure of discovering the Marseille Trilogy thanks to film society screenings of the three some decades ago. A glorious masterpiece, indeed. Certainly the most exciting announcement of all to me. If you haven't yet...

Maybe Othello, maybe not. Pretty lean bunch.

    Criterion Blu-ray titles!

One Eyed Jacks for me, probably the only Criterion I'll pick up this year. At least they haven't totally thrown the classic film people under the bus...yet. Thank God for Kino.

    Criterion Blu-ray titles!

A Matter of Life and Death was released not long ago in Germany as Irrtum im Jenseits by ITV Studios/Epix. It's actually quite a handsome colorful blu-ray and is certainly a vast improvement over the DVD. I Know Where I'm Going is available in HD from Amazon Video. I wonder what's holding...

    Criterion Blu-ray titles!

Well, I have to say that they have abandoned me or those with like tastes, since I religiously bought about three of every month's releases for decades. Now, none save a very few every year. Of course, many titles come out in England, Germany and France long before they are released here, like...

    Criterion Blu-ray titles!

Why even bother? I dumped my Pan's Labyrinth DVD years ago. One tortuous viewing was enough for me, just too ugly and violent. Why no classics, Criterion? You used to be somewhat democratic with your releases.

    Thank GOD for Kino!

Only In a Lonely Place for me. Otherwise yawn.

    Criterion Blu-ray titles!

HD downloads of I Know Where I'm Going and A Canturbury Tale are available through Amazon Video right now (with the Criterion artwork). Would love to see those from Criterion, also the recently restored Nights of Cabiria, La Strada, The Virgin Spring, Knife in the Water, Pygmalion, Andrei...

    Criterion Blu-ray titles!

People wanting David Lean's Summertime might want to check out the Japanese BD available through Amazon.jp, it's region A and will play perfectly. It certainly does on my Oppo at home. Quite a gorgeous transfer, too. Same is true of the Japanese BD of Alexander the Great, which we we'll...

    Criterion Blu-ray titles!

None of the these for me as usual.

    Criterion Blu-ray titles!

Bitter RIce is a wonderful surprise and a must buy for me. Gilda would also be, but like with so many other Criterions of this year, I already have a gorgeous Region B blu-ray. It's so nice when they release something that hasn't already been available somewhere else for years.

    Criterion Blu-ray titles!

I forgot to mention the fabulous recent Arrow release of La Grande Bouffe. They really did a great job with it.

I may go for Speedy, too. But, it looks like Kino will be getting all my money in the next few months.

    Criterion Blu-ray titles!

Nothing for me except perhaps The Honeymoon Killers, which is just a bit interesting. Things like The Apu Trilogy are more my cup of tea. Often wonder why I even check in with them anymore. Still, there's always MoC/Eureka and Network.

    Criterion Blu-ray titles!

Hope that there will be at least one classic and a couple that haven't already been released overseas.

    Criterion Blu-ray titles!

Thanks Criterion, my wallet needed a good rest. Hoping for something interesting next month.

    Criterion Blu-ray titles!

I did the same with the Criterion Jacques Demy set and sat through The Young Girls of Rochefort two weeks ago. My wife and I fell head over heels in love with this bright and beautiful masterpiece which would be the one I'd be taking to that desert island.
