Totally! This is one of four or five best 3D Blu-rays in terms of pop-outs. Fun as hell, and unafraid of how far "out" the effects are. Too bad there aren't more like it and A TURTLE'S TALE films and a handful of others (i.e. some of 3D Film Archives releases) that make the 3D experience so very...
What's the story with CAT WOMEN OF THE MOON? It was held hostage by Wade Williams, and now suddenly it's being released on 3D Blu-ray? Is there any involvement with 3D Film Archives? Is it a PD release with possibly substandard quality?
This seems to have come out of left field.
Just got my shipping notice for ROBOT MONSTER. It's on the way to me. That kind of blindsided me...the release seemed to sneak out after many months of waiting.
I am with you. I stopped buying Marvel and DC when the 3D releases stopped. They are simply becoming redundant and cluttery. Enough, Disney! Put your animators on some actual NEW storylines! Or, bring back 3D Blu-rays and I'll begin buying them again!
Pardon my density, but who is RSM? Sorry, but members here throw these acronyms out all the time assuming we all know what they stand for. If "RSM" have a 3D deal with Uni, I would personally like to see JAWS (1975) released, since the studio didn't bother to give us a release themselves in...
The Region B RATATOUILLE 3D disc is a disappointment. The post-conversion from Pixar is rather lifeless compared to their earlier discs. I was hoping they'd get around to converting the last three titles (up until then) that hadn't been processed for 3D: A BUG'S LIFE, WALL-E and THE INCREDIBLES.
A question for those in the know: When KISS ME KATE was projected in 1953, was it necessary to have two intermissions, seeing as how the film runs 110 minutes?
Just watched WINGS OF THE HAWK in 3D on a 65" LG OLED. The depth was outstanding, and thanks to the restoration team at 3D Film Archives, it was sharp as a tack with no ghosting, good black levels and proper grain. The stereo tracks were awesome. But the color is another animal. The first 18...
God, I've owned three region-free players that are fantastic, and none coast me more than $300. U.S. What is it about this machine that warrants nearly four times that?
But, it really does have to do with the equipment. Running POLAR EXPRESS on my old Panny plasma, I had a ton of crosstalk on this and other movies. On my LG OLED, almost no such problems exist...they're even many fewer on DIAL M FOR MURDER. Some of this difference may have to do with the Panny...
No. The motion-capture of faces still sucked back when this was made, especially the creepy eyes, but the 3D is absolutely awesome. If you hold good 3D to be more important than other factors, I would recommend it highly. At $6.99, it's a steal.
I certainly do find the eyes in POLAR EXPRESS to be creepy, and it would be years before anyone was able to improve on them, but I love the 3D effects. I can mentally shut off my aversion to the eyes and enjoy the overall.
I agree. Except for the title song, the music is pretty forgettable. There is really no villain to hiss. Some of the whole magic forest business is kind of inexplicable, even for a fantasy. But it does have its moments, and I'd take this ten times over rather than purchase a Smurf movie.
Good luck with that. I keep going to tracking on an Amazon box full of face masks that was shipped on the 2nd, with an original arrival date of the 18th, being told each day that, "We're sorry we're late," etc.
I get it, though.
I bought it, watched it, and will refuse to sell it. A winner in my book! Charming movie with lots of depth and really interesting visuals. Perfect for those who generally can't deal with foreign films due to the subtitles, as this one needs and has none.
While "pop-out's" are fun, that...
The "last gasp" of 3D home entertainment in the U.S. has already come and gone, but for the 3D Film Archives. However, it still seems to be flourishing in Europe, and most of the Disney stuff is region-free (and reasonably-priced)
