Dukie was rescued from the local shelter at age 2. He lived with me for 15 years until this last January. Damned. I thought he'd be with me forever. I guess 17 is a pretty good age for a kitty.

My latest kitty I adopted at age 5 was originally named Sophie. That name had bad vibes for me due to that terrible Meryl Streep film. I gave her a new name to go with her new life: Maggie, after the British PM. So now she's Maggie the moggie.

Years ago a neighbor was walking his dachshund off-leash past my house. The dachshund saw Fluffy Pumpkin up by the garage door and charged him. About halfway there the dachshund realized that Fluffy Pumpkin, a large Maine Coon, was much bigger than he was and slammed on the brakes...

I've made friends over the fence with some of the horses in my neighborhood. It's always given me pause how skittish they can be. They are a huge animal that outweighs me by 400 lbs. Do humans really have that bad a reputation?
