It does sound like a really solid update. I really like the look of the new interface. I'd like to give it a look again at some point in the future. It's just a matter of finding the time, but it is pretty low on the priority list.
That data on switching doesn't jive with experience. Many houses, agencies and educational institutions have made the switch to other software. Premiere has been the program of choice. I have waited until now, but because of the trends I've seen and based on my testing, I'm moving our program to...
Those tutorials look interesting. Thanks for pointing them out. I'll be diving into FCP X sometime in the next couple of weeks, but I'll still be using and teaching FCP 7 in the meantime.
Yeah, the FAQ didn't exactly fill my heart with warm fuzzys.
Don't say yes when something that was possible without a third party product is now only possible using a third party product.
Maybe I'm being a little harsh since Automatic Duck has been improving on the export functions...
I can't remember if we've talked about it in this thread, but the app store only distribution is causing headaches for any organization with more than one install or anyone on a volume licensing plan. Regardless of what you think of FCP X the way this has been handle was not well thought out...
Ted, I saw that article when it came out and it is primarily talking about traditional post-production house and it is a decline that has been going on for years. And it underscores what I was saying about job security. The paradigm shift occurred years ago with the advent of software based...
Ted, while they can be a reactionary bunch on the Internet, I respectfully disagree with your take on the "pro" response. For the most part, the ones that are still in the business stopped worrying about their jobs in that aspect a long time ago. Like back when FCP 1 came out. There are a lot...
I've been reading all about most of the day. Steve Martin of Ripple Training has a great write-up for "pro" users at kenstone.net.

Because we have an Apple licensing program, I wasn't able to get it and start playing...
Matt and Sam, I agree it is something that is we'll have to wait and see. Obviously, I have some trepidation, but that means it will be really awesome when I'm blown away by FCP X and it goes on to dominate the world. Also, I'm not dismissing the price point discussion. It is huge. But it...
Nothing about Apple's comments implies that other products are coming. All they said was “today was just a sneak peak of Final Cut Pro, stay tuned." I could be wrong, but I take it to mean that we will be finding out more about what has been changed in FCP and not other Studio products...
That's a little much Sam. As a matter of fact, there is a chance that this release might drive some pros to Avid. While I am excited to find out more about it, some of the similarities to iMovie give me pause. I hope that the concerns are unfounded and that it blows my mind.
So I guess there...
