A few specific thoughts about last night’s broadcast.
Funniest speech - winner for short documentary - “I can’t believe a film about menstruation just won an Oscar!” (Ranks up there with the win a few years ago for "It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp")

I'm sorry, but this short ceremony was one of the least 'special' things I've ever seen. Almost boring.
I've always looked forward to the Oscars.
Now the people whose goal is to get it over as quickly as possible have ruined it.
That may be, but then the timing is odd.
If it was a long known commitment, then a replacement should have been ready to step in. An already in place Plan B.
IMO, they shouldn’t have to cut anything. They should have just committed to a four hour show from the start. (The Super Bowl does)
The decision to limit themselves to three hours (even though none of the previous shows had done that) was wrong-headed. I wonder how committed ABC is to this...
But I like most of the skits and banter. (Ok, I agree that the go across the street stunt wasn't good).
And I love the songs, and the speeches. And the reaction from the seated nominees with their sometimes awkward, sometimes touching, sometimes funny walk to the stage.
