Jim, I had asked about that Mintek 1710 a while back, and was told it was very decent for the money, and no big tech glitches associated with the low-end brand name that Mintek aquires for it's $50-ish set-top players. Hence, one will be under the tree for me this holiday season! :D

However, at that price they are disposable. Good for, if nothing else, giving as a gift to that knucklehead relative who is reluctant to move into the DVD world. :wink:
