And for users that don't use framerate matching to source but instead have the playback device (e.g. AppleTV) use a fixed framerate and match all content to that, syncing times are a non issue.
My impression is JVC has had long sync times for years and multiple generations, from the start of the NX line and also the immediately preceding RS series.
Not having the screen and sound blank out for 15 to 30 seconds while the projector syncs to the new frame rate.
My Sony has a ~3 second sync time and I find that on the edge of too long. The 15+ second sync time for current JVC would drive me nuts. When I happen to watch a movie’s special...
I wonder what the goal of the mandatory pricing is? I presume it’s BigCo JVC working with BigCo retailers against the small, niche retailers? But I don’t know.
For me, I’d rather buy from a friendly, not-local, small shop, that can provide better pricing than the local BestBuy chain that has...
Long term, sure. Right now that’s still more tech demo than consumer hardware.
I also think small panels being connectable into larger displays with microLED is a future potential. But I think that’s 10 or 15 years away from mainstream.
Direct View is eroding projectors' niche, to be sure.
There will still be a place for projectors for years to come. There are some enthusiasts with 150"+ screens. For others, projectors may be the only way to get a large image -- I don't know if it would be possible to navigate a 120" set down...
This is where I’m at. Realistically, I can afford the NZ7 and could even swing the NZ8, with trade offs in other major purchases planned for the next few years. But, boy I really don’t feel like I want to spend that amount for this tech at this state of its lack of maturity.
My tech-rage is...
I'd be open to used or refurb NZ or NP. But the NX series isn't quite what I want, even for a good discount.
As much as anything, this is why I won't get the older JVC's but am excited for 2022 models.
Press release with prices post Feb 1. NZ line going up $1000 to $11k, $16k, $26k. NP5 released at its post-Feb price of $7k.

I found it declared on AVS

Will see what this does for NP5. I’m not ready to rush buy $10k NZ7 against looming price jump. Will just have to ride this out and...
The $10k NZ7 is getting a further price increase >$10k in three weeks?!?!:angry::huh:
Do you have a link to that announcement? I can’t find anything on it with a quick search.
Am interested in reviews. I take it this is the NX5 successor (the “NZ5”) we were expecting? If this were $5000 MSRP, I think I’d pre-order without hesitation. At $7000 MSRP, I’m still in analysis paralysis for 4K projector upgrade.
I don‘t feel strongly about lamp vs projector. But I want to...
