You gotta be in the mood! It’s not a fast paced, action movie. This is not Looper.

It feels like PDK because it’s trippy and character driven. It doesn’t feel like Heinlein because it’s not filled with free-love polygamy. :D

When you're 20 to 30 minutes in and you're rage-texting me WTH did I recommend ?!?!, I will respond to just give it a bit longer and it will start to cohere into a story. :D A friend recommended it, and I was like what is this that I'm watching? But it was pretty solid by the end.

Star Wars is a great example of the maxim: If it has rivets, it’s science fiction. If it has bark, it’s fantasy.

Gravity is one the the best cinematic experiences of my life. I saw it twice in the theater and both times it was deeply moving. I love it. It's of a piece with Children of Men. I don't experience it as a survival movie, but a movie about humanity. Contact was enjoyable as a scifi thriller, but...

Contact wants you to think. Gravity wants you to feel.

This was in my HTF sidebar just now, maybe drawn in by the universe calling to it from the podcast https://www.hometheaterforum.com/behind-the-mask-aspect-ratio-solutions-for-projector-and-screen/

Good discussion. I admit, I've never understood RAH's "a few words" threads. This conversation helped me see what he's going for and what others are looking for in them. :)
