Gave the Ars review a skim, since I don’t remember anything about v11 from WWDC. From playing a short bit and this review, there’s a few nice tweaks, notably to Messages finally catching up with four years of features.
But otherwise, there’s really no new features and major improvements to Big...
About to upgrade my iMac.
Updated my iMac last night to the latest Catalina patch. Huge problems. Went to bed with a potentially dead iMac...
I gave up. Did a hard power off (the fifth for the night) and let it be. Rebooted in the morning and it was back to normal.
I downloaded the Big Sur...
But it gives you more freedom to organize your most important apps front and center and send everything else to the corn field, err, app library. You know that they're not gone, but there's less effort to think about organizing apps you don't care much about. While I don't use the app library...
Are there dynamic wallpapers besides the dumb colored bubbles Apple provides? Seems like it should be a neat feature, but a choice limited to red or blue bubbles that move slightly is Zzzzzzz....
Anyone know how to enable the Smart Autoplay feature in Music? Does this require a Music service subscription?n I've tried several songs in my library and there's no "infinity" symbol to activate the autplay feature. Big bummer if it needs streaming sub, that would be a great feature for me...
Bummer! Sounds like one of those bugs that affects some people, but not all (or most). LIke some were having trouble with major battery consumption after the 7 update. (The fix for that was to unpair and re-pair the watch.) Don't know if there's a known fix for the map data issue.
Took a 2 mile walk just now, with both iPhone and Watch, using Watch Fitness for outdoor walk. Map route is in Fitness (formerly Activity) app like normal.
Tomorrow, I'll have a jog with just Watch and no iPhone.
Is that fixed in 14.0.1?
I did a big workout yesterday. iPhone on 14.0.1, but watch was still 6.0. Activities mapping is normal. Will go jogging tomorrow with updated watchOS 7.0.1 Will try to remember to check back in on this m
I’ve settled on a home screen layout. I’m trying to give widgets a fair shake. All three are multi-widgets (stacks?) when some attempt at internal logic / theming. I don’t know if they’re better or just different. But it’s been fun to play with them. I think they could be better. What I lose in...
Yeap. Can't tell if it's "no time to add feature" or "won't make iPad be big iPhone even if it's a good idea"
Because they are there on the widgets pane that is slide-left from home screen or that appears in landscape mode.
Seems like its time for a new-os thread. I'm trying to figure out these new widgets stomping around my home screen. I've broken a year or two of muscle memory tapping app icons, and it's really confusing. But, I'll give it a go and see if these work for me. I'm not sure they make life easier for...
iPhone upgraded.
I guess this is what 13 years of iOS looks like: a mature operating system with minimal changes year after year. Theres the App Library. The mini-notification for phone calls and Siri are nice. And...that’s about it that I see after an hour of fiddling and launching apps.
Not...
14.0.1 is out. So I’ve updated my iPad. Minimal changes, which I recall from WWDC that the iPad got little improvements in 14.
will do iPhone this evening.
Not yet. I’m waiting a little bit for iPhone, iPad, watch. Let developers get apps updated, bugs fixed. Maybe until 14.0.1 is out. The lousy iOS 13 experience plus #2020 makes me more cautious.
