Never upgraded from PS4 to PS5, and initially was excited to see the PS5 Pro rumor: that would be a good upgrade Christmas present this year. And then I remembered that PS5 were in short supply until last year; maybe they still are, I haven’t look for pricing lately. So, will a PS5 Pro be...
Hey, what’s the best or easiest way to buy a PS5 these days? I thought they were supposed to be readily available now. But BB is sold out. Amazon shows “sign up and you‘ll maybe get one someday”.
I’m not in a rush — but I tend to impulse these things and when I’m ready and I want to buy now. Thx :)
I’m not especially current on video games generally or consoles specifically. But ten years for a console gen seems really long. Maybe I’m stuck in thinking rooted in the ‘80s and ‘90s?
On the plus side, my projector room is now capable of 4K 60Hz HDR — not up to 120 HZ VRR like the cool kids...
I haven’t done anything buy a PS5 yet. I’m just sorting out and paying for 4K projector right now. Console is early next year at the soonest. But making sure I shouldn’t be waiting for the next-next-gen upgrade. :)
I'm starting to think about buying a PS5, now that I've got a 4K projector.
Is now a good time to buy -- by "now" I mean holidays 2022 or ealry 2023 -- or are we close to a likely PS6 launch and I should wait a bit longer at this point?
I haven't turned my PS4 on in over three years -- it's...
didn’t know if TLOU was re-re-mastered for 4K. Or TLOU2 is 4K by design.
Doesn’t change my buying plan either way. I’m just ignorant on the basics of the transition from PS4 to PS4 Pro to PS5 and recent games.
I don’t mean to say I’m waiting for a $100 drop. I don’t need the $400 console to get to $300. The disc less version seems like the option I’ll get, when I get one. But while there’s new tech i *want*, I don’t *want* a new console yet.
Gaming time limited. Its hard to find gaming time on my...
Uhm...what?
I’ve gone digital only on my Switch. Got a zillion streaming boxes. Don’t need a game console to do anything but play games. If I buy a new-gen console, happy to not spend money on drive.
Other people can buy what they want.
If you’re fighting the Time Wars, and need to buy a box...
I’m in no hurry, but at $400, I can see buying the base PS5 eventually. And I like Sony’s approach of only having to choose between disc or not. No decision about reduced capability.
That size might be a practical problem. I don’t care about how it looks. My electronics are hidden away in hutches and racks. But, then, I do care than they can fit into hutches and racks. Ginormous design might not fit available space.
<shrug> We‘ll see. I’m in no hurry.
Any idea if it sits horizontal? Not fitting in a rack is actually a big deal to me. It literally has to fit into a rack.
But I’m not an early adopter so I can always wait for gen 2 than does fit in a rack. :)
Erp. Never mind. I missed some posts showing just that. :) Cool. That fits a rack.
Caveat pandemic, what's the notional launch date for the PS5? I'm thinking of buying one for The Last of Us 2. Doubly so if I upgrade to a 4K projector.
But...I haven't turned on my PS4 in over a year (maybe two?). So it depends on pricing. $600 console, I'm out for a while. $300 launch, more...
I'd wrongly assumed that The Last of Us Part II was a launch title for the PS5. I was thinking that I'd be buying a PS5 to play TLOU in 2020. But it looks like I can just renew my PS+ service, replay the original and then buy and play the sequel on my PS4. That's a $600 savings. :)
Although, if...
