Apple is almost certainly tossing the old units and giving you a new airpods without the charger and retail packaging. So, not a bad deal for what has turned out to be a high-end, disposable set of earphones. I don't know that I can get anything like that for my Bose QC30 earphones.

But they are! Go to Apple Store and buy replacement batteries for $159. As a bonus for loyal customers, with each battery purchase, you get a free set of battery housings and a charging unit all thrown in for free!!! :D

Cycles should refer to total discharge and recharge. Partial recharge is a partial cycle

I don’t own them, personally. But I don’t see the gym floor or airport littered with lost AirPods. :)

FWIW, I see a lot of people wearing AirPods at the local gym and in airports. The reports about them seemingly being everywhere...that’s my experience lately.

I listen at the gym and on airplanes. I don’t want to be aware of my surroundings :) I pay extra for NC. I’ve had three Bose NC sets, currently use the QC30. Apple’s push into computational audio should mean adjustable NC is a given, when not if. And like Bose, it will certainly be an option...

NC will get me to seriously consider buying in.

The reviews are all very good. I like the idea of them but I use noise canceling headphones and am looking at the newest Bose Bluetooth earphones. If Apple got in that area with AirPod type device I'd be all over it. (Kinda like the Watch: I'm a bit jealous but they don't fit my needs)
