Interesting. The only thing I can think of is to unlink, then relink Vudu on your MA app. Sometimes doing that will fix such issues. At the end of the day though Vudu only has it in SD anyway so you're not missing out on much...
Interesting. I didn't realize my Vudu was playing SD (and yes, it is) because, like you, it does show I own the HDX.
I checked FandangoNow's stream and while it's also SD, look at that first shot with the MGM lion - clear as day with none of the scratches seen in the iTunes version - just like...
It looks like Vudu has begun streaming a much cleaner version of "The Thin Man," but to my eyes it's still not the WA transfer. It's definitely better than the iTunes version, though.
Look at the opening MGM lion. The iTunes version is scratched to hell, the HBO Max version is perfectly clean...
Naw, I mean if you just added your non-MA movies you'd get about 90% of it, but I just opened 2 windows side-by-side on my iPad, with my iTunes library on one and my Vudu library on the other, and scrolled through both at the same time. When I hit one not on iTunes I'd add it to the curated list...
All I said, and all I am saying now, is that Roku did recently switch from a business model of making money selling hardware to making money by getting cuts of subscriptions and ad sales. I am making zero arguments beyond that single point.
From Variety:
"According to Roku founder and CEO...
So you think Roku changing from a business model or selling hardware and advertising to one of wanting an actual cut of subscription fees was done at AT&T/Warner's insistence?
Before Roku made their money by selling Roku units, now they're trying to get a piece of the action and are using their clout to try and get it.
From Variety:
"A central sticking point: WarnerMedia wants to remove HBO from Amazon’s Prime Video Channels and the Roku Channel. That’s so the media...
I don't think those TV apps get a lot of love from developers, making the apps made for streaming devices much more solid. I have never had a problem with the Vudu tvOS app and love the ATV generally.
That being said, there is rumor of an ATV refresh coming, so waiting to see what Apple has up...
My only issue with this is the fact that the press release announcing the sale states "While there will be many more exciting things to share in the months ahead, nothing about the Vudu experience is changing."
Hi Vudu customers,
Thank you for trying out our Family Play feature. Starting on July 20, 2020, Family Play will no longer be a supported option on our platform.
As a destination for your family’s video entertainment needs, we continue to provide a range of features that give you peace of mind...
Titles are being removed that were obtained via Instawatch where the e-mail used to purchase the disc did not match the e-mail used to redeem the digital code.
Someone would buy an Instawatch labeled disc, scan their receipt with the WalMart app signed in under their WalMart e-mail, get the...
It's nice to have another option, but the FN app definitely needs some work.
No 4K, even though the iPhone app has it. I have titles like The Thin Man that I own in HD (even their app says that) but here only shows up in SD, and the alphabetizing is terrible. It list everything that starts with...
I still think it's going to be the other way around, but I wouldn't place a bet on it.
I think it's advantageous for them to run the ticket sales business and digital sales business together. Keeping the Vudu name would essentially damn them to running them separately.
Whatever Fandango is now is a moot point because we are clearly going to get a new service/app out of this.
There is an opportunity here for this to be something. You are going to have a service that has a feature none of the other services can match - theatrical ticket buying.
From a movie...
Do you plan to keep both online video services brands – FandangoNow and Vudu – or combine them into one?
Our priority is to ensure that Vudu customers and partners are given the highest level of service during this time of transition. There will be no immediate changes to either service. In the...
...which means Vudu is now owned by a combo of NBC/Universal and Warner Brothers.
I can't see it bring much change to consumers, really. It will be interesting to see if Vudu goes away in favor of FandangoNow...
