I've been watching the hell out of the "Western Noir" series.
And that is why I love the Criterion Channel. It's not just a collection of movies. But as a film fan, it focuses me on something specific and teaches me about it, broadening my knowledge of the art form.
As a film noir fan, I never...
If you had to buy those movies on disc, and got them on sale at $20ea, that would have cost you $1,120 + tax, vs. $99 for the subscription ($85 if you get it buy discounted iTunes cards)...
Just did a random sample of 10 titles. Never saw the frame rate issue and subtitles on everything. Please don't subscribe for a full year based on what I alone saw, though ;)
You can look on any app to see its version history. Also, if you go under App Store to "purchased," then to "recently updated," you can see all the apps that have been updated there.
Looks like it got 2 updates this week...
Here's a good conversation on it, including a response from Criterion that it is indeed happening:

If you Google "Criterion Channel dropped frame...
I've noticed it since the beginning, but decided to ignore it rather than deprive myself of movies I want to see. It looks like a small glitch every 10secs or so.
1 year anniversary lineup. There's some great titles in here...

I think Criterion continues to do a good job keeping customers informed of movies coming and going. The list of movies leaving Jan 31 was up on Jan 1, easily found on the main page.
“Klute” came onto the channel November 10th. A short time to be sure, but it also had always been listed as leaving Nov 30, so its end date, which can be found on the main screen, had been known the entire time it was on there.
I think that’s just the nature of a service that has to license all...
The last list we had was "leaving November 30" which is obviously over now, so I'll have to check if it's still up. On the site and apps it's on the main page right below "newly added."
Depends on rights. Some titles have been there from the beginning, some might stay 60-90 days. They have a section you can go to that shows all the movies leaving a few weeks in advance so you have plenty of warning.
I don't know if that's an Apple thing or a thing on the service's side... Many aren't included in search, like Vudu, or live TV.
It causes a lot of confusion in my parents house because I've taught them to find the content they want by asking Siri, but a lot of network shows they watch are on...
In this case I can tell what happened - if you're in an app's search screen but the search area is not selected, pressing the talk button will do a general search of the entire Apple TV and not the specific service you are in.
I can tell that you had performed a general search because Criterion...
I think there is actually quite a bit of validity to what Ted is saying. It's something I've posted about before.
Try this, Robert, to see what we're saying:
Search for Klute. You will see results that look like this:
If you select the very first result, as most would do, there are no...
I don't think it really works that way, where it's inevitable that a disc release will make its way to the streaming channel. It depends what rights they have...
This is how weird I am -
I let my Criterion charter membership trial lapse today then re-upped with iTunes cards (so paid $85).
I then bought another $100 worth and put them in an envelope. My Apple Music subscription renews on Oct 1 for $99 so I set myself a Siri reminder for Sept 30 to add...
Not all is lost, if you use Apple...
Right now Target is having a sale on iTunes gift cards - buy one get one 20% off. If you buy 2 $50 cards that's paying $90 for $100, which means you can get the annual Criterion subscription for the same price as a charter member.
If you happen to be a...
Yeah, changing plans does void the charter rates.
We talked about it a few pages back...
