Robert Siodmak's The Dark Mirror is getting a R2 release in Germany on December 4. It's coming from Koch Media, which generally means a good transfer and removable subs.
Desert Fury is also coming but I doubt if it could improve on the blinding transfer on the extant R4.
Oh I'm not complaining - just wondering. Actually could those two I mentioned be possibles for that Critics Choice set that's supposed to come out in July?
That's pretty odd again. First a double dip on The Big Heat which they could have avoided by using Human Desire, and now a reissue of In A Lonely Place when Knock On Any Door is available. Having said that, the other titles are more than welcome.
I've noticed there's been a R4 release of Lang's Scarlet Street, which looks like it's been licensed from Universal. I was wondering if any of the members from down under could comment on the PQ - like is it comparable, better or worse than the Kino R1?
Remember that none of this has been confirmed yet. So I'm kind of hoping someone got their wires crossed and that Human Desire - the other Ford/Grahame picture - might still be the one coming.
Good news indeed. I can't think why The Big Heat is in there though - it's already been released and looks fine. Lang's other Glenn Ford/Gloria Grahame picture Human Desire is still MIA and it would have been nice to see it included.
Has anyone managed to pick up the recent VCI double bill of Reign of Terror/Amazing Mr X. It was supposed to be released at the end of last month but it's still reading as on order from DVD Pacific. I'd heard they were using better material than had previously been the case. Is it out? Anyone...
