See, I don't mind that because it's already pretty much a given that the Hanks character will survive.
The movie's interesting because of the way it tells its story.
Yeah, it'd be better if the trailer didn't telegraph his survival, but it's not exactly a shock that he lives...

If forced to vote, though, I'd go "yes". I just feel like "no" dismisses it entirely, and as I mentioned, it can work when done well...
Depends on the movie, really.
Some do this just because the opening act lacks action so they wanna make sure viewers don't get bored.
"Uncharted" does this. It doesn't open with the ending, but the first scene takes place much later in the movie and then the story plays catch-up from there...
