Yeah, there's some of that. I think it's the "supposed to be understood" dialogue that's less than clear that's the issue.
Also, I don't want to leave the impression I thought the dialogue was easy to understand - it's not. But I just didn't struggle with it like some others...
The film does play better 2nd time because it's less confusing.
Not that it's not still confusing in some ways, but it's less so.
It's best to view "Tenet" as a Bond movie with some wacky twists. At its core, though, the plot = straight Bond...
To be specific: I don't claim I found every line to be easily intelligible. There were some that got a little lost in the muck.
But I didn't have issues 99% of the movie! :)
When I saw it 1st at the AMC LieMAX, volume level was fine - don't recall it being too loud.
2nd time at Harkins real IMAX in Arizona? LOUD! Had to wear earplugs to make it tolerable!
Also, I must be the only person who didn't struggle to understand the dialogue! :D
I had no trouble understanding the dialogue.
Understanding what the hell the story was about? Different matter!
Though "Tenet" is really pretty simple at its core - it's just been Nolanfied into something more complicated because... Nolan!!!
I'm a huge admirer of Nolan, but sometimes I...
The reason I thought it might be IMAX only was due to the "limited release" thing.
I didn't think "Tenet" would be IMAX only forever - I just thought it might open IMAX only in the US.
I think it's likely WB wants "Tenet" to run much longer than normal and a "toe in the water" approach with...
Just saw this on Twitter:
"And to our IMAX fans in the U.S.,
@TENETfilm
releases in IMAX Theatres in select cities starting Sept 3. #IMAX tickets available soon!"
So do they plan to release "Tenet" only on IMAX screens in the US?
EDIT: saw an AMC tweet that mentions it'll open there as well...
And if the 2 July tentpoles do come out in July, they're likely to linger in theaters much longer than they would've in the pre-COVID universe.
Ain't gonna be as much competition for screens for a while!
Yeah, but if we still don't have many other movies, "Tenet" could be out there much longer than the usual 6 weeks or so.
My local AMC has 22 screens - they gotta fill those with something, and unless they bring back March movies that got their runs cut short, what'll they run?
My local real IMAX screens are all at Smithsonian museums, so even if standard movie theaters open by mid-July, it's unclear if those would be available as well...
