IV has always been my favorite, followed by V, VI, II, III, then TMP last. Of the Next Generation era, First Contact, followed by Generations. Insurrection and Nemesis are equally bad and tie for last place. I only watch ST 2009 occasionally for Zoe Saldana. I walked out of the theater part way...
I definitely had the 1999 DVD version, although I could have sworn that it was an anamorphic re-release. That was a number of years ago, though, so I suppose it wasn't.
I don't mind the Scooby Doo reveal.
Eww… I supposed I had been watching a dvd of the regular home version because I definitely don’t remember the flash frames added to the mind meld scene. That absolutely kills the suspense of the scene.
But don’t forget they released the theatrical cut of ST TMP in the box set. Anyone who wants the better version also has to double dip for the individual release of the director’s cut. It’s good we’re getting it but we as consumers are beyond tired of their tactics.
I like that V and VI are finally getting a UHD release, but it grinds my gears that I just bought the I-IV UHD box set last fall and now Paramount is already asking me to double dip again. In times past when there was a Hastings Video here, I would have simply sold the box set to them for store...
I unexpectedly had a couple of free hours last night so I watched the newly released DE. I streamed via an AppleTV 4K (2nd gen). Overall, it was an excellent presentation. The Dolby Atmos soundtrack was pretty active and presented a very wide soundstage. I found the wormhole scene to be quieter...
