Is it time to talk about coronavirus?

I have worked for companies that give employees X amount of sick days per year, then ding them on their yearly performance evaluation for poor attendance if they use any sick days, which directly impacts their merit increase. It’s a messed up system that promotes working while sick so the...

Is it time to talk about coronavirus?

Just about every company I have ever worked for (except my current employer): Official Company Policy: Stay home if you are not feeling well. Employee: I’m sick and can’t come in today. Manager: We’re already short handed and can’t cover for you. Is there any way you can come in today?

Is it time to talk about coronavirus?

An observation while in CVS that made me facepalm: I was waiting in line inside at the pharmacy because it’s always much faster than the endless line of cars at the drive thru. Anyway, I can see the pharmacist, who is wearing a mask. Suddenly she pulls her mask down, looks off the side and...

Is it time to talk about coronavirus?

Since Covid is a respiratory illness, much like seasonal flu, the best we can hope for with a vaccine will be results similar to an annual flu vaccine. Not 100% effective, however, it cuts down transmission, duration, and lightens symptoms to a tolerable level. It’s more about mitigation and...

Is it time to talk about coronavirus?

I believe Arkansas reported our first day yesterday with over 1000 new cases. It has gotten bad enough that my wife is quitting her job because the sheer number of cases coupled with the risk of transmission where she works far outweighs her pay. She has long suffered from an autoimmune disorder...

Is it time to talk about coronavirus?

The beginning of this week marked the third time that I have been ordered to quarantine because of a positive case at work. I’ve had to take two tests so far and the results of both have been negative. Cases in Arkansas are spiking and people are running around like morons without masks and no...

Is it time to talk about coronavirus?

I really wish I could have stayed at home for the past couple of months. The Dept. of Homeland Security defines my job as an essential critical infrastructure worker so I have had to go out in the thick of this every single day since the pandemic began. Every service employee of my company...

Most likely you were already sick and just didn’t know it yet. The flu vaccine contains “dead” virus which makes it impossible for you to catch the flu from the vaccine.

Is it time to talk about coronavirus?

Then there are those of us who have been going to work every day throughout this certain public health crisis. It’s a bit unnerving visiting a client to work on their equipment and walking into a busy mailroom and being the only person wearing a mask.

In Arkansas, you can buy beer and wine in some gas stations in wet counties. You have to go to an actual liquor store to buy hard liquor. Of course, the only way to buy alcohol on Sunday is to go to a restaurant or sports bar.

It’s the Wild West here. Crowded stores with few wearing masks and the governor believes issuing a stay at home order would be worse than letting people run wild.
