Right... and that is when we consider that different studios were used to film the different seasons before settling in 1963 at the CBS Radford Studios (aka CBS Studio Center).
Seasons 1-5 (1955-60) were filmed at Filmaster Productions
Seasons 6-8 (1960-63) were filmed at Paramount Studios...
I wonder if, regarding the complete series box, any of the 233 half-hours and the first 34 1-hours making up the first seven seasons of Gunsmoke kept any of the original commercial breaks after the closing credits and before the end logos?
If you take a peek at the closing credits for the...
Did CBS ever re-run two half-hour episodes (those from the first six seasons) back-to-back during the 1961-64 period, fusing the two stories together into a single one-hour episode?
What I mean is: after the end of the first of the two half-hour episodes rerun, CBS would show a short bumper...
For those of you who had been keeping up with season 7 (the first season of the 1-hour episodes) on MeTV, some of the 34 episodes have the prior 1960-61 version of the CBS Television Network Presentation jingle, rather than the 1961-62 version (as we heard on the same season's The Twilight Zone...
Me-TV's rerun of "Snow Train (Part 1)" had the unusual sped-up closing credits which faded out before the music could! Thank God the DVD set does not.

I hope the Season 20 DVD situation does not end up on the same route as when Al Jean, who worked on The Simpsons, posited back in 2015 that there would be no more DVDs available for that series following the release of season 17.
I mean, if ViacomCBS via Paramount Home Entertainment truly...
I wonder if this round of cost cutting ViacomCBS did will ultimately mean all the 30 or so releases so far of Gunsmoke will be out of print on DVD soon, so that they can encourage us to watch this via streaming, courtesy of their All Access service?
I hope that this is not the case yet, and...
The same thing occurred on season 4 of Have Gun - Will Travel. These two, and all other 1960-61 season CBS in-house TV shows (cf. Perry Mason, Rawhide and The Twilight Zone), had a brand new jingle under the "Film Presentation" end cap.

Does the two-part "Snow Train" episode have the bastardized end credits? In particular, part 1 that I saw on Me-TV (where the end title music doesn't get a chance to finish out when we see the CBS Television Network logo)?
~Ben
I forgot to say that the "A CBS Television Network Production - filmed at CBS Studio Center" logo was first used on season 9 (1963-64), as that was when CBS took over full ownership of the former Republic Pictures lot at 4024 Radford Avenue, which that studio had ceased using in 1958. Previous...
I saw the episode "Snow Train" (episode 7 of season 16) on Me-TV just recently, and the end credits were sped up (but leaving the audio alone). Hence, the audio does not get a chance to finish out under the logo.
The season 16 and 17 DVDs are both due out on December 10, so for those of you...
Tommy Morgan was a very prolific harmonica player, having lent his instrument to many popular songs and TV show theme tunes over the years. These include Sanford and Son and In the Heat of the Night, among others.
